Additional info & updates

3/22/13 - Maryland scholarship is $12,000/year plus $4,000/year additional money 2L and 3L years for faculty research assistant position.

3/25/13 - Wash U scholarship increased from $90K to $105K over three years in response to negotiation e-mail that I sent about a week ago.

3/28/13 - William & Mary scholarship increased from $54K to $66K in response to a negotiation e-mail I sent a couple of weeks ago.

4/1/13 - Withdrew applications from Richmond and Maryland today on their deposit deadlines. For William and Mary's statement of intent, indicated that I was undecided and my application should be held until the true deposit deadline of May 1st. Emory's deadline is April 19th and all of my other schools are April 15th, so I should be making a decision in two weeks.

4/3/13 - Group interview with the Georgetown dean today.

4/15/13 - Placed "on reserve" at Cornell. They will take another look at my application in mid to late May. This is what I expected. I guess it's basically a waitlist. Still haven't heard anything at all from either BC or Vanderbilt. Today will likely be my decision day too since it is the deposit deadline at most schools.

4/16/13 - Paid the first deposit for Wash U last night. Withdrew from W&L, Mason, and GW. Technically William & Mary and Emory are still sticking around with deposit deadlines of 4/19 and 5/1 respectively. However it is looking like Wash U is the winner, barring something very unexpected happening.

4/22/13 - Did not pay Emory deposit on Friday, so I am officially withdrawn there as well. I am now withdrawn everywhere except Wash U (deposited), William & Mary (5/1/13 deadline), Georgetown (waitlisted), Cornell (waitlisted), Vanderbilt (pending), and Boston College (pending). At this point it would take something pretty surprising happening to make me back out of the Wash U deposit though.

5/2/13 - Did not pay William and Mary deposit, so I am now withdrawn from there as well. Yesterday was also the deposit refund deadline at Wash U. I did not refund mine, so it looks like that's where I'm going (again, barring an unexpected and substantial scholarship increase from one of my other schools or getting off of a waitlist- probably with some money). 95% Wash U at this point.

5/6/13 - Waitlisted at Boston College today... I guess that is either a yield protect thing or else it is because I applied on a whim right before their deadline. Oh well.

6/4/13 - Received an e-mail from Georgetown today saying that deposits had been very strong and I would not be receiving a spot in their class (I applied part-time).

6/12/13 - I was blown away by having my scholarship at Wash U increased to a full ride today. I had already paid both deposits and was already planning to go regardless, so this was just an unexpected (but welcome) surprise... I'm getting really excited about going to Wash U!

7/8/13 - I got in off the waitlist at Boston College today. If I were to accept, I would need to do so by 7/12/13. Still sending letters of continued interest to Cornell and Vanderbilt every few weeks.

8/15/13 - Received an e-mail from Vanderbilt today saying that I would not be coming off the waitlist. Cornell is now the only waitlist that I am on, although obviously at this point it will be a pretty big long shot that I would come off of it- and an even bigger long shot for me to ditch the full ride at Wash U to take an offer from Cornell if one were to be made.

8/19/13 - First day of orientation at Wash U today!

8/28/13 - Received an e-mail from Cornell stating that I would not be coming off the waitlist. This means that I am no longer on any waitlists and have withdrawn all of my applications. I am happily a student at Wash U in my first week of classes now! Good luck to everyone else!

It would definitely be nice to stay in state! I'm hoping to find out from Richmond & W&M soon. If I'm excepted to W&M - not counting on it because of my bad lsat score - then I'll most likely go.

Congrats on $$. You will have little to no debt and at a top law school. I am still hoping for a miracle for either Gw or GT PT. I wish more schools offered PT programs. Congrats again. Cheers
