Additional info & updates

5.24.10 - SUCH A DILEMMA. PLEASE COMMENT...TEXAS OR CORNELL? UT was my undergrad institution as well. Significant other's Columbia decision is still pending...so focusing just on me, which is the better JD to hold??

4.30.10 - Cornell reserve, UVA rejection. Expected, I didn't do a thing with it after being notified back in February. Never really saw myself going anyway, applied due to fee waiver.

Good luck to everyone still making decisions.

3.31.10 - Deposited at UT, irritated with wait on Cornell. Will let deposit deadlines pass and withdraw from everywhere else in the next couple of days. As far as I can tell, my cycle is over. Want my money's worth out of USC, though.

My very significant other is on the "alternate list" for Columbia medical, so Cornell is a live option. As much as I would love to be in NYC, my options there just don't make up for the compromise in rank. So, Texas or Cornell (god-willing) should he get in.

2.25.10 - Emory package with scholarship.

2.10.10 - Email early this afternoon from UVA.

2.3.10 - Phone call acceptance last week from SMU. Phone call this afternoon from Cardozo, awarded full tuition.

1.27.10 - Email rejection from Berkeley.

1.12.10 - WL at Vandy, dinged by UCLA and NYU ;(

1.8.10 - Congratulatory email from UIllinois with $30k/year offer.

1.6.10 - Just opened email to see "Congratulations" from WashU! Being considered for scholarship awards, pretty cool!

12.26.09 - Cornell letter in mail, deferring me to regular pool. Not so bad.

12.16.09 - Acceptance email from UH

12.14.09 - In at Fordham via status checker!

12.4.09 - In at Boston! via phone call

**11.17.09 - Voicemail on home phone, IN AT TEXAS!!!!! GREAT START :) Unless I pull those DREAM reaches, Texas is (probably) where I'll stay!

10.28.09 - Submitting majority of apps today!

10.19.09 - Got my score over the weekend, a 167/95th %ile!!

it'll probably boil down to $$, but UT is definitely a top choice

haha true, though i still think i could've taken a more targeted approach, rather than scattershot. i also have good jobs lined up (not an easy task in this econ, even w/ a JD) so i've been weighing my options.

we have similar numbers, looks like we're safe at Fordham for now since today they deferred a bunch of people who had our completion date. Hope the acceptance is around the corner for us. I added you on my watch list, hope thats not too weird haha SanBun

Very much the same! Based on yours, it looks like I can expect a ding at NYU, and you an acceptance at USC and Cardozo. Best of luck!

Thanks!

Good luck to you too!

UT or Cornell
Monday, January 04 2010 at 07:00 PM

That is really up to you, Cornell is a better degree, but not by much. Consider your familiarity with Texas, the weather, no state income taxes, and cost. If I were you I would lean toward Texas, I regret not applying there. Both are great decisions though, best of luck!

so you've decided on UT? interesting how similar our cycles turned out to be, right to the very end lol
