UPDATES

November 20, 2007: Walked into the office to good news from Duke (e-mail notification). E-mail from Michigan saying file is complete, law school discussion board people claim to have decisions, so I'm staying alert.

November 21, 2007: Complete at Penn. They say eight weeks from the time they start regular admissions. Would be really REALLY great to pull this one out.

November 22, 2007: Complete at NYU. Fingers crossed.

November 26, 2007: Complete at Berkeley.

November 29, 2007: Acceptance package arrives from Duke via ground mail.

December 7, 2007: Letter in mail from Georgetown saying I'm deferred even though I didn't apply EA/ED. Strange. I'm glad I have at least one T14 secured, just in case i'm the same gray area candidate everywhere.

December 11, 2007: After few a weeks of little activity law school-wise, in at Fordham (e-mail notification). Good to know that decisions are likely to be drifting thru more quickly now.

December 14, 2007: Complete at Harvard. Would be nice to catch up with my friend Toby one of these days. With these digits that call just might not come though.

December 19, 2007: Complete at Cornell. Michigan status checker indicates decision, holding my breath. I'll put up a decision date and type when I have the letter.

December 25, 2007: Merry Christmas from Michigan! (where they actually have snow!) Acceptance by mail obviously did not arrive today, but probably yesterday when I wasn't at home. The letter was dated 12/19, the same day the checker went to decision.

January 5, 2008: Letter comes in from Fordham offering merit-based 30K over three years. Unfortunately, that's not enough to be able to inform Michigan or Duke and get them to boost their pitch.

January 14, 2008: HUGE setback. Rejection by mail from Penn. This one hurts. I thought some softs might be able to do the trick - but not to be. In all likelihood that ends the cycle, because everything that remained of interest is Penn and higher. Will continue to post updates - I believe in miracles.

January 22, 2008: Still mourning Penn, but voicemail acceptance from BU. Letter will be in mail they said. Seems like a cool place (minus the Red Sox), but Michigan/Duke still lead the race - scheduled visits for both last week. Harvard introduced a status checker today - that's another thing I'll obsessively check during my spare time.

January 23, 2008: We're picking up the pace! In at Cornell (e-mail notification, letter in mail). First Ivy acceptance (pleeeeeeeze lets not say ONLY), but again, any non YHSCCN has to really impress me to choose it over Michigan. But being a T14, i'll give it the look it deserves.

February 3, 2008: In at Yale! OMG! Just kidding. GIANTS WINNNNNNNNNNN! 18-1, Eat it Belichick you cheating coward. Not Kidding!

February 5, 2008: Letter in mail from Chicago putting me in "Hold" category. I hope its not a tease. I will do or write anything to pull this out. Fingers crossed.

February 9, 2008: Letter in mail, shot down at Georgetown. I'll be waiting patiently for them to fall out of the T14, and I'll be sure to purchase several shiny copies of the rankings.

February 11, 2008: We're having a ding party. Axed at Boalt by letter sent to home address. Will somebody stop the bleeding?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

February 19, 2008: Letter in mail, WAITLISTED at Columbia. While I'm thrilled that I didn't get the immediate axe, it'll be a slow and painful death - next review isn't until the end of May. PLEASE don't be a tease! Hope something amazing happens between now and then.

March 10, 2008: Thought it through long and hard, but withdrew from Fordham by e-mail. Adios, $$$, but hello more $$$! DUKE makes first pitch at 24K. If Michigan offers nothing other than aid, this could be a tough one.

March 17, 2008: Out at NYU by mail. Big Apple dream almost dead. This is SLOW and PAINFUL. But just four more to hear from.

March 26, 2008: New rankings out. All my schools fall by one, UVA and NW tie Michigan, Cornell ties Duke, Boalt passes the Penn/Chicago tango.

March 28, 2008: Decision indicated at Virginia. Luck hasn't been great recently, don't know what to expect. Guess Harvard will be last to respond, whenever they do.

April 1, 2008: Changed to Waitlist at Chicago. More torture.

April 2, 2008: Letter in mail, on "non-resident waitlist" at Virginia. Probably means if they are taking anybody off the waitlist, they'll be in state. Whatever, with Michigan under my belt, I'll be watching this one less closely.

April 4, 2008: Withdrew from BU by e-mail. It's down to Michigan, Duke, and Cornell.

April 11, 2008: Visited Cornell today. It's a very nice place, but definitely not that convenient. They also didn't offer me any money.

April 18, 2008: Withdrew from Cornell by e-mail. And then there were two.

April 22, 2008: Letter of continued interest sent to Columbia. There's no place like home.

April 23, 2008: MAILED IN A DEPOSIT TO..........MICHIGAN! Will withdraw from Duke by mailing in accept/decline form. I am very excited, yet hope deep down inside that it's not the final answer. Best of luck to all!

April 24, 2008: Withdrew from Duke officially by decline form through mail. I don't know what Toby and Co. are up to but I invite him to change my life forever any day now.

April 30, 2008: Email from Toby........drumroll....... WAITLISTED at HARVARD! Would anybody like to sell me a letter of continuing interest? Three waitlists, hopefully I can pull ONE off. No offense, Michigan.
