Penn is silly for deferring you. Why no Stanford?

Congrats on Harvard! Is that your top choice behind Yale? Or are you going on something other than the rankings?

If I get in of course... which is very up in the air :) After that I'm sticking with top 10 most likely, Penn, NYU maybe Michigan or Berkeley. Full rides from teens will also impact the decision but I'm not trying to guess what will happen.

It's coming down to a few schools too, one of which I haven't been accepted to yet! :)

Sorry to hear that. I agree- logically, there is no reason for them to call you unless they are planning to admit you if you have a remotely reasonable answer. Still, it's too bad they were cranky. I guess this time of year is tough all over.... You seem like a good match for UM, since they reputedly have the most pleasant environment, and you seem to be the nicest poster on LSN.... I can relate to your first semester woes- I had mono/bronchitis my first semester in college- yuck. I spent much of the first year semi-conscious on the floor of the suite (when I wasn't actually in bed). Not great for either ECs or grades...

You are up late! Yes, the offer was by mail, dated 2/11. It was for 20,000 the first year, and 7,500 the next two (I guess b/c of in-state?) I had not submitted for any particular scholarships, so it was a very nice, spontaneous offer. They give two weeks to respond, with one of the options being to put it on hold until May 1, with the obligation to tell them when/if you knew you were definitely going to decline. Looking at other LSN, as I am sure you have, it looks like they've just started sending out a few of these. I'm on the west coast, so here's hoping yours is on the way!

Leaning a little towards Columbia and Berkeley. Berkeley has a matching scholarship with some of the other schools so that's nice, but even a little bit of money at any of the top schools will influence me, I'm sure.

Not sure. Probably b/t UM, UCB, and UC- though the Butler was terrifically flattering. Each of those appeal to me in a different way....UCB- love the Northwest, the mix of students is impressive, weather is great, very permissive environment (non-judgemental) UC- appealing to my inner geek (encouragement to be intellectual), also love Chicago, Hyde Park actually not so bad, opportunities for academia UM- Darrow, less change in standard of living, everyone loves it- either a cult-like atmosphere or genuinely that great. It's going to be very hard to decide, and, since I tend to be a bit of a chameleon, the decision is likely to significantly affect my future plans. How about you? Columbia aside, what are your thoughts?

The HLS ASW was excellent. It answered my concerns about the school's size and cost, and hearing Dean Kagan talk about the changes HLS has made and is making was great. She, Toby Stock, Larry Tribe and others all made quite the compelling case.

So UCLA Law from what I hear is basically the same as Harvard, except the weather is way better.
