Since graduation in 06/04 I've had some unique employment experiences...

Comments welcome. Good luck to everyone.

10/19/06 - Large envelope from Duke w/acceptance

11/03/06 - Small envelope from UT w/acceptance

a good start so far...

11/17/06 - Had a great visit at UT. Everyone seemed very laid-back despite finals approaching. Austin would be a wonderful place to live, especially since it was 72 degrees during my Nov. visit.

11/20/06 - Large envelope from Michigan w/acceptance. This one felt good since I've given up on getting good news from Georgetown.

12/15/06 - Deferral in the mail from Columbia. Time to start putting together some supplementay materials to send in.

12/15/06 - Georgetown acceptance finally came. Wow where have you been the past few weeks?

12/21/06 - Acceptance call from Penn! Letter and packet apparently in the mail.

12/21/06 - Small envelope from Vanderbilt w/acceptance.

1/10/07 - Hold from Harvard via e-mail. A pleasant surprise.

1/23/07 - Deferral in the mail from Chicago. Bleh.

1/31/07 - E-mail from Boalt stating that my app has "passed an initial review" and a decision will be released by 2/23. Somewhat glad that they don't want any supplemental materials.

2/27/07 - Called Boalt to get the bad news.

3/5/07 - Priority non-resident waitlist from UVA. Status checker changed 3/1. Hmmm, probably withdrawing.

3/5/07 - Scholarship info from Vandy, merit & needed-based total $20k/yr.

3/6/07 - Acceptance call from UCLA. Had a nice chat with the Dean. First good news of 2007.

3/10/07 - Acceptance from USC in the mail. Hopefully they're not done giving out $$$.

3/26/07 - Harvard ding in the mail. I think I had the lowest stats of any deferred candidate.

4/9/07 - Columbia Reserve notice in the mail. Man that dream's dying a sloooooow death.

4/20/07 - NYU WL in the mail. Cycle officially over. It feels good to know where I'm going for sure.

4/16/07 - WL in the mail from Chicago, not staying on.

Hey How did you know that your file at UT was complete? CONGRATS on your acceptance!

Thanks! I actually received an e-mail at 10:00 p.m. from UT the same day my acceptance letter came with a link to a status checker. Obviously a little late to help, though it did say my file was processed on 10/13. I never heard anything from them until I got the letter yesterday.

was your UT acceptance in a small, white standard-sized envelope? I would have thought it was a reject letter.

Thanks for the resonse...one more quick question. When you go online and check the status checker...does it tell you your admission decision? THANKS! I'm so anxious to hear back!

When I first received the e-mail the status page just said that my application had been processed and was complete. I checked it today and at the bottom it said "Admission was granted on 10/31/06." But that hadn't been there earlier. Good luck to you with UT and all your apps!

It was a small, off-white standard-sized envelope. My heart dropped when I first saw it, but then it seemed a little heavy for a reject letter.

  • Sunday, February 11 2007 at 11:27 PM

Hey numbers twin! I hope they'll continue to like our applications too! :-) I sent a 4th LOR, a Why HLS essay and an official transcript (can't trust LSAC these days, lol), plus a grades addendum. What about you? Send in anything? And good luck to you, hope our wait for HLS pays off!

  • Monday, February 12 2007 at 10:12 AM

hey, i find it funny how many pug lovers have written on my wall! anyway, i have not seen long haired pugs, but i have one of those pug-a-day calendars so maybe i'll see one during the course of this year. Are they ugly? Do you know the best way to go about getting a pug? I heard to go through breeders, not pet stores. Any suggestions? I hope we both hear good news from Boalt too, but with your lsat i think you have a better shot!

Basically I turned in my scholaship app about 10 days after my acceptance, and they gave me my offer about 2-3 weeks after that. But apparently they do their scholarship letters in batches so it may vary a bit. Good luck!

  • Wednesday, March 21 2007 at 06:44 PM

Yeah, it's CLS vs Penn right now (though if I get no $$ from either, throw Mich and UVa in the mix, just to make things more complicated!)...I thought CLS put on a great ASW, so I'm hoping for the same from Penn.:)
