12/5 - Conducted off-campus interview for Northwestern. It was great--super informal.

12/10 - Conducted off-campus interview for Vanderbilt. Again, informal and very helpful.

2/1 - On hold at Northwestern

2/2 - In at Vandy!!! Via very large FedEx package. Definitely one of my top choices!

2/27 - Acceptance via phone call from UT!

3/2 - Top three right now:
1. UT
2. Vanderbilt
3. SMU
UT is a great school for the price. If nothing else changes, that's where I'll be come August. Vandy is my favorite, but ridiculously expensive at sticker--waiting to see if I get any scholarships. SMU is tempting w/$78K scholarship, but I'm waiting on a response to my Hatton W. Sumners scholarship app.

3/5 - Scholarship from Vandy! Also, rejection letter for Hatton Sumners scholarship from SMU. Looks like it's either UT or Vanderbilt! Plan on haggling a little with UT...

4/3 - Scholarship offer from UT! I submitted a copy of my Vandy scholarship yesterday morning and got the call today!

Total cost of tuition at each school:
Vandy: $87,250
UT: $75,030
It's not a huge difference, but might be enough to put UT over Vanderbilt.

4/13 - Paid UT deposit. Leaning very heavily toward UT.

4/30 - Withdrawn from Vanderbilt

5/1 - Surprise scholarship from GW $90,000! Very tempting, but I'm shooting for small firm work in Texas, so GW is probably not the best fit, even at that price.

Congrats on W&L and Wake Forest! That is a great scholarship. I am glad your cycle is starting out so well. It is a good feeling to know that in any case, you have some nice options this early.

Congrats on Vanderbilt!

Thanks! I am still going to let things play out. I obviously do not expect anything from Penn/Michigan, but an acceptance from either would shake things up quite a bit. Vandy decision is in the mail, so will probably get my rejection letter tomorrow. lol. I could see myself going to pretty much all of the schools that I have not withdrawn from if it made sense financially. There are a few that are in locations that my wife and I would love to move to eventually as well. I would be interested to know what you are thinking as well (may be best in a private message).
