I know this is probably going to sound bad, but I try to stay away from schools that are more than 50% African American. I don't mean it in a negative manner b/c I love being black and fully intend to marry a black man, however, most of the people that work in the field we want to work in don't look like us. Therefore, I guess I've always tried to get used to working with/around other races/ethnicity's especially since the world is so diverse and spending 3 years in school with people that look like me might make me jaded. As far as John Marshall goes, the reputation precedes itself...and not in a good way here in Georgia. I think it's over priced and not up to par. I have a couple schools I consider "safety" schools, but I'm just being optimistic about it all.
Thanks... Oklahoma is near the top of my list and would be very hard to turn down if I got accepted. Congrats on South Texas and good luck through the rest of the cycle. I would recommend withdrawing from Phoenix - 61.8% bar passage is not worth the 100K+ investment.
Wow congrats on STSL !!!
u penn wont work, i already know, free to apply anyway
good luck with your cycle!
Also, John Marshall in Atlanta isn't accredited yet. It has provisional accreditation according to the info I found.
I think my personal statement was a pretty decent narrative. You're more than welcome to read it, if you'd like, and give me your opinion of it. Send me your email and I'd be happy to share it with you.
I actually did apply to a few more schools, mainly safeties, but I didn't take the time to update my profile. And FWIW, John Marshall-ATL is fully accredited
I sent it to your email. If it's not in your inbox, it might have gone to your junk mail.
Yes I am , trying to get out of south tho been here my whole life ! Ready for a change !
Thanks for the encouragement I have applied to more schools.
*high five* Awesome! :) Regardless how you feel about the city, it's great to have options! :) Congrats!
Well...can't you postpone law school until the Fall 2012? I say apply to Rutgers for Fall 2012, see if you get in and if you do, go there in the Fall. I mean, what's a few months when you're talking about a city you'd like to live in or a school you'd be comfortable going to??? Just my humble opinion. :)
you got into baylor with a 147? wow
Just wanted to say your rant about Charlotte School of Law literally made me lol. Good Luck on the rest of you cycle! :)
I actually didn't apply to Golden Gate but I am considering applying in January. I like the fact that they have an honors lawyering program and the idea that I could hopefully receive a significant scholarhip if I went there. I would also love to live in California. I did't apply to Penn State because I definitely got hung up on rankings, I just couldn't see myself moving so far north to Pennsylvania unless I got into the highest ranked school they have to offer.
Oh wow! Looks like I will be putting in an application to Penn State soon! Thanks for that article!!!
you should read my comment section more clearly, i clearly stated that I was not going to Cooley.
don't worry about it, lol. i didn't take it seriously. good luck to you on your cycle, and congrats on Baylor.
Hey, my start-up is called Storage Squad. It's a shipping/storage company targeted towards college students.
Think carefully about Baylor, they are known for a very rigorous program. Many people complain its not worth the extra effort.
Thanks man, you too. Congrats on Baylor.
Good luck for you too. Grats on Baylor and South Texas!
Neither Cooley nor Coastal are first choices at all... but for me the goal is to graduate with as little debt as possible so whatever schools might offer me good scholarships are going to move up my list...I'm really hoping maybe St. Thomas, Barry or FL A&M, they all really impressed me at the LSAC forum today! Thanks for the kind words! As of right now I've submitted my personal statements but if I decide to apply to more places I'll keep the offer in mind! I'm willing to proofread as well if you would like. I'm fairly strong in the mechanics and grammar aspects since my BA is English.
hey man, when you were admitted to South Texas, did they give you scholarship info right away? let me know
Thanks...im just applying bc i got a fee waiver...congrats on south tx and baylor! did u apply part-time or full-time for baylor?
nope so i decided to withdraw. surprised that u got 6K offer with ur numbers, i understand u being URM helps but still, LOL.
nothing wrong with texas schools, i've just never visited there and was not purposely looking for a texas school, so, my list is sort of random, just so happens didn't do one for texas
i heard from ppl before apps could easily take up to 3-4 months
you decide to withdraw from Pace? I see it was your 2nd choice. Fingers crossed for you for your #1 pick: Cardozo. It has been a dream school of mine too, but my LSAT score(s) have never given me the courage to apply!!! Best of luck!!! :)
i really need to learn your trick of getting accepted, since i can't magically turn black or URM. and I thought my personal statement was good, yours must be really top notch
hi! i noticed you said you were applying to schools for 2012 spring start... did you apply for january admission to cardozo? hope you have a great cycle and you're so lucky to have admittances already! :)
I don't know if I would post a rant such as the one you posted about Charlotte School of Law given how easily an admissions committee could identify you (AA, majored in lit, went to Penn, GPA, LSAT, extra curricular activities). If I was an admissions officer, there is no way I would admit you if I saw that post, as you come across as an immature fool. Remember that they do not know you personally and committees are certainly using internet resources these days to make decisions. Think about it.
You profile gives me hope - South Texas is my number one choice. Really hoping to give in. Congrats!!
Was the acceptance a letter or packet?
First off I want to congratulate you on your success. I also want to thank you for sharing your stats with us because it is a huge help to those of us starting off the process. I'm looking to apply next cycle for the spring of 2013 and the fall of 2013. I'm applying to schools that offer both spring and early decision fall admission to widen my range. I was wondering if you are applying for admission for multiple semesters or are all your applications exclusively for spring 2012? I was also wondering how long it took for you receive decisions from the schools and what your experience was applying for the spring semester verses the normal cycle. I've never spoken to anyone who has applied in the spring semester and I just wanted to know a little bit more about your experience because I know it can be different from the normal cycle. Any feedback would be amazing and very much appreciated! Thank you so much! Karina Cerda
If I got accepted to Baylor, it would be extremely difficult to get me to withdraw. How is the MBA going?
I appreciate your encouraging words. I hope my master's does help. In addition to that, I have a fairly strong personal statement and LORs. I'm glad to see that you've gotten your first acceptance today! Congrats! :) I know the waiting game can be a killer! I'm sure they'll be more acceptances to come! I'm putting you on my "watch list" because seeing people with similar #s get acceptances encourages me! Thanks again!
