Additional info & updates

My goal is academia, not biglaw, so it's gonna be a fun process weighing scholarship money/relevant LRAPs versus academic prestige. I'm mainly interested in cyberlaw/IP law, with interest also in national security vs. civil liberties issues and comparative/international law.

I'm a Midwestern girl with a soft spot for Philly and the Bay Area. Really liked Charlottesville when I visited, too. I know a bunch of the profs at Duke's Center for the Public Domain; they're basically awesome.

Maybe I should just roll some dice...

At least I know I'm not a fan of NYC. Can you tell? :P

I haven't really been keeping this up day-to-day, but I just had to add for hilarity's sake--I accidentally misspelled the UChicago finaid officer's last name in my scholarship negotiation email a few weeks ago. Went from $0 to $54K nonetheless.

Lesson being: negotiate, kids! Even if you're as apparently incompetent as me, you might get something! :)

Congrats on a great cycle so far. Any idea why Michigan rejected you? Seems like you have solid numbers for that school.

Thanks! At Michigan I applied for 2010, not 2009. (I'm planning to defer; Michigan's one of the few that lets you state that up front.) I guess they're extra selective when you apply a year in advance. They said I could use my rejection letter as a fee waiver for next year, though, so if I decide to try again that seems like a good sign. :)
