Wrote Why Penn, Michigan, Duke, Berkeley and UF, UCLA Programmatic Contribution, Harvard Joint Degree statement, CLS Fun Facts Section, Georgetown Top 10 List; Disclosed family connection to UChicago, UVA and Penn (cousin attended and sibling currently attending, respectfully); Disclosed GRE score (Taken once during undergrad w/o studying; Similar to LSAT equivalent; High Verbal, Low Quant, Perfect Writing Score); Sent DS and Addendum to every school. Fingers crossed!

Additional info & updates

09/2019: Unsolicited fee waivers from Cornell, Penn, Vanderbilt, Michigan, USC, Notre Dame, WashU, Emory, UF; Emails from HLS for online and information sessions; Unsolicited snail mail from Michigan Dean including handwritten note encouraging applying
10/2019: Unsolicited snail mail from HLS + HLS affinity groups (including handwritten note from a student) encouraging applying
11/2019 Boston College unsolicited fee waiver; Northwestern solicited fee waiver; LSAT retake
12/2019: LSAT score release (158 -> 162); Overall increase 12 points from first take
01/2020: Unsolicited CLS fee waiver, email from the Dean, and snail mail from affinity groups encouraging applying; New Years email from KJ reminding to apply; UVA solicited fee waiver (Requested one from Georgetown and was denied)
02/2020: Got nervous after Penn ED2 and UF dong and submitted last minute applications Duke, Berkeley, Vanderbilt, WashU, Georgetown, UM and FSU (Blanketing most of the T20s and adding more in-state options); Figured the wider the net, the better! Trying to stay positive and not let all the waiting go to my head - harder said than done!
03/19/20: Decided to add another academic LOR and send my GRE scores (high Verbal and perfect Writing score, but low Quant) to all pending schools in an effort to boost my application. LOR writer has written me very strong ones in the past and can attest to my intellectual promise and the academic rigor of my undergraduate program, which will help offset my low GPA. Figured I would give it all I could at this point in the cycle. Fingers crossed!

01/13: Northwestern Kira Invite, Completed on 01/23 - felt like I did really well on it and represented myself and personality genuinely! Fingers crossed!
01/30: Penn ED2 Dong; Was anticipating a waitlist considering the strength of my soft factors, very compelling Why Penn statement, my interest in their highly specific interdisciplinary programming and joint degree opportunities and the fact that I have a sibling currently attending, but knew that they're more traditional in their admissions process. Pretty difficult loss, but guess it wasn't meant to be!
02/18: UF Dong; Applied last year with a much lower LSAT score and was waitlisted, so it came as a surprise and major loss. Received emails all year encouraging applying as well. Was counting on UF to be my in-state option. Guess it wasn't mean't to be!
02/20: Cornell Dong; Since I was UR2 two weeks ago, was expecting a Kira invite or a dong, so it wasn't unsurprising.
2/21: Yale Dong; Totally expected, but still stings. Hope they enjoyed my Y250! Glad I shot my shot!
02/24: Michigan Dong; One of my personal favorites. Guess it wasn't meant to be!
02/26: USC Dong; Applied last year and was donged too. Guess it wasn't mean't to be!
Fingers crossed that my luck changes soon!
02/27: Harvard Dong; Absolutely expected, but still was holding onto hope for a JS1. Glad I shot my shot and hope they enjoyed my application!
03/04: UCLA Dong; Had a feeing it was coming. Applied last cycle with a much lower LSAT score and was donged as well. Guess it wasn't meant to be?
- Starting to lose a bit of hope as the dongs keep coming. Fingers crossed my luck changes soon! -
03/12: Accepted to UM; Finally broke the dong streak! Expected given my stats, but still very exciting given the fact I was waitlisted last year!
03/25: Chicago Dong. Very much expected, but stings deeply. They were my top choice and I felt as though they were a perfect fit, if they were willing to take a chance on me. Hope they enjoyed my application!
03/30: CLS & Berkeley Dong; Expected, but still hurts. Thought CLS would be a nice fit for me, but I guess it wasn't meant to be. Hope they enjoyed my application!
04/01: Donged at GULC; Hoped for an interview, but I guess it wasnt meant to be.
04/10: Donged at Northwestern; Feel at peace knowing I did everything I could, from crafting a strong narrative to having a great Kira interview. Hope they enjoyed my application!
- This has been an emotional process and holding onto hope has become more difficult as the dongs keep coming. Shifting my focus towards crushing 1L in-state and transferring to HYS. But, anything can happen, right? -
04/14: Waitlisted at UVA; Quite a shocker to say the least. Was having a lot of negative thoughts lately, thinking of how my cycle would have been different if certain factors were different. Dong after dong, I had started to lose hope. But here it is, a chance, at a school where its peers above and below have dismissed me. Is my luck changing? Will be writing a Why UVA and LOCI. Riding this one out. Fingers crossed.
04/16: Waitlisted at WashU. Riding it out! I guess they enjoyed my application!
04/17: Donged at Duke. Was hoping for a waitlist given my compelling Why Duke incorporating my STEM background and their curricular offerings, so it was disappointing. Guess it wasnt meant to be!
04/20: Accepted to FSU with a very generous Garnet & Gold Scholarship! Very excited! Theyre an excellent in-state option and have phenomenal transfer placement. Will probably attend if not accepted off the UVA WL.
04/24: Donged at NYU; Expected after such a long wait. Hope they enjoyed my application!
04/27: Donged at Vanderbilt, thus completing my cycle. It was a stressful and disappointing ride, but I am hopeful for waitlist movement and for the possibilities that FSU can bring me, especially in terms of transferring to a top law school. Will be hitting the books hard this fall!
Submitted LOCI and Why X essays to UVA; Withdrew from UM and deposited at FSU.
05/19: Donged at UVA. I've been at peace since being waitlisted and have held onto the idea that if it is meant to be, it'll be. Grateful that UVA saw something in me that its peers didn't. With this decision, it is official that I will be attending FSU Zoom 1L. Ready to crush this first year and am very excited for what the future will hold. Go Noles!
06/16: Received an email from WashU indicating that they don't anticipate much waitlist movement and to indicate commitments and plans. Have to admit that I had forgotten that I was on the waitlist. Given the global pandemic and the fact that I have already committed to doing 1L year online with FSU, it made more sense personally to withdraw from their waitlist. Hope this opens the door to someone who'd love to attend their school! :)

01/2021: Just wanted to provide an update if you happen to be following my journey. I was able to knock it out of the park this semester of Zoom School of Law and earned straight A's! I even "booked" a course, earning one of the few A+s my professor has ever given to a student in their teaching career (20+ years)! I also received a personal congratulations from another professor regarding my impressive performance on their exam. As a result of my performance, I'm currently ranked at the top of my class. Needless to say, I am over the moon and feeling very hopeful that I may be able to reach my transfer goal! :)
05/21: Another update! I've managed it again - straight A's and booked another class! I also had an UNREAL OCI season! I took a chance and applied down Vault and, several screeners and rounds later (via Zoom), I managed to nearly secure a 1L SA position at a V5 and secured priority/pre-OCI offers at that firm and its peers. I was also able to interview at the USAO SDNY/EDNY/NDCA, and was offered a judicial internship at the 11th Circuit COA. It's still shocking to me that I was able to get these kinds of incredibly elite opportunities, especially given that I was at a state school in FL, and at the time I had interviewed, I had only completed a single semester of law school! It was exciting and scary, to say the least! Needless to say, this year was the most incredible ride! :)
06/2021: Transfer applications went in mid-June. Fingers crossed! <3
06/17: Accepted at GULC
06/24: UChicago Interview Invite
07/01: UChicago Interview
07/09: Penn Interview; Penn and UChicago Acceptance!

Looks like yours is an experiment in epic soft factors. Interested to see how yours all turn out. Why not UVA, and Georgetown? both are known for occasionally finding gems at or below their 25% numbers, and sometimes offering them good scholarships.

I love your optimism and persistence! Good luck!

Hell yeah UVA!

That's great! Good luck, if you're on the waitlist that means they read your file. If I was reading your file I'd want to find any way I could to get you into my school. Put a deposit down to hold that nice scholarship, no worries if you have to leave the deposit behind, that happens all the time, that's what the wait list is for. Figure out what your "last possible" moment is before you for sure need to start planning a move one way or the other (eg. Appartment rental, moving van etc.).

Congratulations!!!

You had such an incredible performance. It's the stuff I dream of when I start my 1L year at FSU Law. Can you maybe share a bit of what you believe made you so successful? Also, did you end up transferring? If not, I'd love to connect on campus in the Fall when I move up and maybe pick your brain!
