Extra Curricular Information

Very active within my minor (music); member of multiple ensembles, president of the music honor society

Took several years off in the middle of my studies due to an illness (also why my GPA suffered during my second year); during this time, I started a small business which has now been my source of income for 7 years. Worked during all years of college. Also just started tutoring at-risk children through the NCLB program.

Additional info & updates

GPA dips in middle of record due to illness; after a break of several years, I returned in 06 - GPA for last two years is a 3.76.

Graduated from undergrad '08 and applied to 3 schools in the '08 cycle (before retaking LSATs):
U of Richmond - Accepted
W&M - Waitlisted, not Accepted
GMU - Rejected

Not sure what to expect because of my weird numbers, but my apps are mostly out - nothing to do now but sit back and wait!

1/12 - just threw a serious Hail Mary to Vanderbilt - lol, why not? I love the school, and had things gone a bit differently for me, they might have been a real option. Now I won't always have to wonder. :)

1/29 - Accepted to GMU via very nice phone call - hooray! Admissions packet on its way in the mail.

2/9 - Status checker at WFU just changed to "Congratulations!" - another yay!! So excited! Off to plan some visits...!

2/25 - Rejected from UVA via email - actually a very polite email, I thought. I honestly had just about zero expectation of getting in with my numbers, but one can always hope the adcomms will see the brilliance behind it all...! ;) Ah, well. Tomorrow is another day.

3/5 - WL at Washington & Lee via snail mail. Disappointed; I was hopeful looking at the numbers of some of the admits - guess my history/softs/non-trad status weren't as compelling as I'd hoped.

3/6 - Complete email from UNC (it's some kind of procedural thing, as I was informed over the phone that I was complete mid-Jan). Hope this means good things in my future!

3/9 - Ding at GWU via snail mail. Expected, but sad - such a great school.

3/13 - Waitlist at Cardozo. Ouch. Withdrawing - hope this opens up a spot for someone else! :)

3/24 - Waitlisted at W&M via snail mail for the 2nd year in a row. Not sure why they didn't just accept or reject me this time.

3/25 - Accepted at Tulane via status checker - nice!! Now really hoping for some scholly money...! (Pretty please?)

3/27 - Called and was told my scholarship amount at Tulane (amt per year). Looks like I'm visiting New Orleans!

3/30 - Rejection letter from Vanderbilt; not exactly surprised. Eh, they don't know what they're missing. ;)

4/2 - Rejection from BC via snail mail. Knew they wouldn't love my GPA. Ah, well.

4/9 - Scholly offer from Wake, hooray!! I now have the mother of all tough decisions to make as I really like both Wake and Tulane....!

4/9 - Called UNC to check on my app after the accidental-admit debacle, and was told I have been waitlisted. Had a great conversation with Dean States (so nice!); going to ride this one out.

4/15 - After making a round of visits, I finally decided to send in my deposit to Wake. I'll be honest, it was a little painful as I really, really loved Tulane, but it's hard to ignore the extra $15k Tulane would cost, as well as the fact that I will have opportunities to increase my scholly at Wake if I do well. Will also be nice to be near family, and to be studying in the state in which I hope to live/practice. *Sigh* farewell, NOLA, I will always remember thee fondly! ;)

4/17 - Received a very nice email from Tennessee basically asking whether or not I was still interested, and letting me know that there was still some scholarship money to be had. At this point, though, it would be extremely difficult for me to visit and give them any real consideration, and I doubt they would be able to match/beat Wake's scholly, so I respectfully withdrew my app from consideration. Kind of sad, though, as I would have loved to have visited and really considered them if only they had gotten back to me earlier.

Seriously, great job getting into George Mason! I know people that applied to there and to GWU and didn't get into GM but got into GWU. They wish they were at GM! They must have seen your potential.

Congratulations
