Additional info & updates

7/5/08 - list is still a fluid concept, applying in the coming cycle, fee waiver shotgun approach hence the volume.

10/1/08 - well the last of my applications is out, applying early decision was not enough to get me straight into UVA so now my opening gambit aimed at getting a quick decision to my number one choice has turned into a protracted waitlist tango with no end in sight... Que Sera Sera.

11/6/08 - and I am complete everywhere. Still no decisions besides the wait list from UVA and frankly I don't think that decided indecision qualifies as a decision. If the date received and the date complete are the same it most likely means they never let me know when it was received.

11/12/08 - hopefully this is a sign of things to come. I received acceptance from William and Mary via preferred mail and they offered me an out of state graduate fellowship as well as an extra 3000 per year.

11/19/08 - very nice call from the director of admissions at the University of Minnesota School of Law letting me know that my offer of admission and related materials is in the mail.

11/19/08 - email from University of Iowa, acceptance.

11/24/08 - admitted to Ohio State, average letter sized envelope, and scholarship from UMinn

12/5/08 - Waitlisted at Fordham, ill stay on for now but I am only luke warm on the school so I don't know for how long.

12/8/08 - Rejected by Georgetown, average letter sized envelope... sad faced clown.

12/13/08 - Accepted to W & L, average letter sized envelope

12/17/08 - Accepted to UIUC with a 20,000 dollar a year scholarship, full page sized envelope.

1/12/09 - First decision of the new year was a rejection from Michigan in a thin normal sized envelope, it would be more disappointing if I had put more effort into the application (which I should have done) but as it is I was expecting it to a certain extent.

1/23/09 - Waitlisted at Boston University, thin normal envelope, so far 2009 has not been all to kind. My rejections and waitlists are threatening to out weigh my acceptances.

1/23/09 - after a few moments thought I decided that if given the choice between Minnesota and Boston U at the same price I would take Minnesota and thus promptly sent a withdrawl email.

1/24/09 - I retract my previous statement about 2009 being unkind, thin letter sized envelope from the University of Iowa offering a full tuition scholarship.

1/26/09 - UC Hastings decided I belong on their waitlist, I was seriously considering withdrawing already anyhow so that was easy.

1/27/09 - Acceptance email from GW with a package in the mail, happy news for me because I have a preference for the DC area as well as being my first acceptance of the new year.

1/28/09 - Waitlist from Vandy, letter sized envelope.

1/30/09 - I suppose getting waitlists from high target/low reach schools is a sign that I made my list well... but frankly it just feels frustrating. UCLA letter sized envelope.

2/2/09 - Rejection from USC, letter sized envelope. Did they really have to stamp "address service requested" on the outside... are they planning on continuing correspondence? do they want to remain friends?

2/4/09 - Waitlist from Uconn, they were a safety and they probably saw that and thus yp'd me. Touche Uconn. withdrawn. letter sized envelope.

2/9/09 - For cripes sake columbia, take forever! They finally got around to rejecting me... d-bags. Anyways, letter sized envelope, yatta yatta yatta.

2/18/09 - 8,000 per year from OSU, I withdrew.

2/26/09 - so I have been accepted to Oregon but with a small scholarship so I withdrew.

3/30/09 - just got back from a visit to Iowa dropped off my seat deposit before I left and barring something unexpected from the waitlist ill be in Iowa City in the fall.

i'm in a similar splitter boat. Sorry to see about UVA, does that mean you are on regular waitlist or a special one? I'm debating doing that for Michigan, but I dunno.

Good luck!

From a fellow duck!

Just curious as to what the breakdown on the $$ from W & M was.

Question
Saturday, October 04 2008 at 08:00 PM

This also goes for all the spliters who know more about this process than I do. What do you think our (169, 3.29) chances are for getting into a top 14? Give me something like 50/50 or 10% ect. thanks and good luck!

condolences on the hastings waitlist, although it looks like you can deal with that much better than i can. u of o is still a great option no matter what. good luck the rest of the cycle
