Additional info & updates

LSN has been such a great resource for my applications. I will try to keep my profile updated.

GW - Accepted 11/27 - Good first acceptance!

Alabama - Accepted 11/29 - Basically a full scholarship! Could not be happier!

USC - Accepted 1/23 - The scholarship is great! I'm still waiting on most schools, but USC seems like a viable option.

Ohio State - Accepted 1/26 - Full Scholarship! I'm in-state, and do not mind staying in Ohio, so it's something to think about.

Boston University - Accepted 1/28 - The scholarship makes the school more intriguing since the cost of attendance is fairly low.

Arizona State - Accepted 1/31 - Asked not to disclose scholarship information, but I am very interested in the school and area.

Georgetown - Rejected 2/1 - Expected a waitlist after not getting an interview, but I'm not upset. The cost of attendance is ridiculous.

Notre Dame - Accepted 2/5 - Really excited! It's an option I will strongly consider if the cost is right.

Michigan - Waitlisted 2/8 - This sucks.

Penn - Waitlisted 2/13 - Not at all upset. I'm just happy to still be in contention. The second waitlist feels much better than the first.

Columbia - Waitlisted 2/21 - They waitlist almost everyone who is not accepted, so Im not expecting much.

Cornell - Waitlisted 2/28 - Ugh. I thought I would have a good shot at Cornell because of the decrease in higher LSAT applicants. This one hurts.

UCLA - Waitlisted 2/28 - I knew this was likely, but it still sucks. 5th WL does give any confidence for the rest of my applications.

Northwestern - Rejected 3/1 - I didn't expect to get in, but I at was at least hoping for a waitlist.

Texas - Waitlisted 3/1 - I'm retaking the LSAT in March. I'm pretty sure I'll break into the 170s and get in off one of the six WL's I am now on. But it still sucks.

University of Chicago - Rejected 3/8 - Totally expected and I would not have liked it there anyways. Not upset at all.

Emory University - Accepted 3/8 - It's a good offer, but my LSAT retake is going to determine a lot.

Duke University - Denied 3/21 - I was not expecting to be accepted, but being denied really hurts. Still a few more decisions to go but things are not shaping up the way I wanted.

University of Maryland - Accepted 3/29 - I am not attending, but it feels good to have an acceptance after the string of waitlists and denials.

WUSTL - Waitlisted - I interviewed in December and knew it was not the best. This sucks.

* I have officially committed to Ohio State. Graduating with nearly no debt is important to me with the projected instability in the legal market. I plan on waiting for all my decisions and riding the waitlists, but as of now it's OSU.

Vanderbilt University - Waitlisted 4/1 - 8th one. I should be able to get off at least one of these at this rate.

University of Virginia - Waitlisted 4/2 - 9th one. I hate driving, but it looks like I'll have to visit a lot of schools.

UC Berkeley - Waitlisted 4/4 - I've hit double digits! At least their email actually explained how their waitlist works instead of acting like it's some form of esoteric philosophy.

(Update) I'm in the third quartile. FML.

New York University - Waitlisted 4/26 - I'm staying on this waitlist until the end. I think my chances at one of these is fairly good

Columbia WL - Rejected 6/13 - Its beyond me why I was waitlisted in the first place. Their process makes little sense.

WUSTL WL - Accepted 6/17 - I am in shock with the scholarship amount! I will be attending in the fall!

Vanderbilt WL - Accepted 6/26 - They say there is no scholarship money left, and would not negotiate. It's not worth close to the difference in cost with WashU.

I will be attending the University of Michigan after being admitted from the waitlist. The only advice I have for waitlisted applicants is to be patient and consistent. If you have close enough numbers and show commitment, you have a great shot at any school.

Alabama Scholarship

Is the Alabama number OOS + 3/4 Tuition basically?

Tuesday, August 14 2018 at 01:32 PM

@engr_splitter Alabama is OOS and it's almost 90% of tuition, but after the first year I can become an Alabama resident and I would then transition to a full scholarship and an adjusted stipend.

@optimisticgarlic Love yours as well! It's pretty uncanny how similar our cycles have been.

Congrats on the full scholarship! That's pretty amazing. Are you planning to withdraw from the waitlists you're on?

Tuesday, August 14 2018 at 01:32 PM

@kaylakm7 No, I'm going ride most of the waitlists out until late August. I'm fine with OSU, but I'm not giving up the chance to go t13.
