Additional info & updates

My name is a reference to the phrase "selling coal to Newcastle (or New Castle depending on whether you're talking about the English, Australian, or US place)." It refers to how I'm trying to get another boring Jew into HYS, which already has plenty.

Update: On second thought, maybe Coal to JEW Castle would have been better.

I got a couple of bad grades while studying abroad that aren't reflected in my GPA, but are visible on my transcript, which I thought wasn't supposed to happen since my college graded them as pass/fail. Got a C- and a C . My grades also went downhill so much during my senior year that I didn't even bother to update my transcript, which I'm sure hurt me too.

send 'em in, you'll feel great. i'm thrilled about HLS, but still crossing my fingers for Yale...here's hoping the boring Jew club is extremely overrepresented in the class of 2013.

Best of luck from a fellow Hebrew! Not that you'll need it =)

Don't worry, your apps have only been in for 1.5 months. I had to wait 4 months for Chicago to WL me, and I still haven't heard back from Michigan. Patience is a virtue, especially when waiting for decisions from law schools =)

my condolences

I don't know for sure, and I certainly would have expected to be waitlisted by Mich instead of rejected for YP, but it's the best explanation. It must have been clear to Mich and Texas that I didn't want to go to those schools, so rather than wait for me to show interest, they rejected me. Texas can only accept 35% of its students out of state anyway. Regarding my lack of response from Harvard, based on people with similar numbers being held, I think and hope that JR is waiting to admit some people with numbers like mine until he knows what the entire applicant pool looks like.

not to be all creepy

but i read his personal statement, and unless i myself am a horrible judge of character (i'm not of gramma'; i'm a copy editor) there isn't a vehemently unlikable streak that would turn off the committees. i think it's that he applied as late as he did, personally. wait, coal, maybe you're being trolled

Did you end up applying to Yale? Also, great news on Georgetown--now time for Columbia and Harvard to come around!

I applied later and have basically identical numbers to Coal (and have had some more success), so it's definitely not his late-ish application.

hooray!

Awesome scholly. Out of curiousity, did you retake the LSAT or have a black hole on your app? Your cycle seems really unexpected.

HLS WL, etc.

I am also quite surprised by your cycle. You got $$$$ at NU (about 40% more than I did), but didn't get into UC where I got $. This admissions game, she is very strange! Seriously though, what's your black hole? Good enough GPA, fantastic LSAT, seem to be pretty involved...certainly confusing.

How were you rejected? Did it happen today (7/10)? Thanks man and good luck this fall.
