I check this everyday religiously and it's been really helpful, so I will try my hardest to be as detailed as possible
Widener called to inform of acceptance (checked status and saw merit award)
RWU also called to inform of acceptance (checked status and saw merit award)
Nervous, but Hopeful!!
Scholarship Awards are total awards for all three years
Checked status at American 1/25/19;- emailed soon after, no letter mail. I think they made the decision, updated the status, and then sent an email. Heartbroken, but still trying to be hopeful
Considering Applying to Villanova. They have good stats and emailed asking me to apply. Hopefully they're not baiting me. Fingers crossed.
Applied to Villanova 2/1/19
Waitlisted at Howard 2/1/19 - Sent LOCI 2/1/19
Waitlisted at my Dream School. I am not discouraged at all, I AM SHOOK. Today's a great day!!
2/13/19 - Waitlisted at GW (They emailed me the decision and I checked my portal: It said "The Admissions Committee has made a decision on your application.
Please allow 3 business days for your decision to arrive.
ALL DECISIONS ARE COMMUNICATED VIA EMAIL." I am totally psyched!
Rejected at Harvard - 2/19/2019 Total Long Shot but I just had to apply.
In at UMD - 2/21/2019 My words can not explain my JOY. God is real and prayer works. I got the congratulatory email and then checked my status portal. In my email it says that I'll receive a package on Monday with more information; I'll upload scholarship information then -
Have yet to receive admission package from UMD as of 2/26/19. I spoke with Jon Glick in the admissions office, he explained that merit/scholarship awards are mailed separate from admission letter. Also told me about scholarships to which I could apply.
2/25/19 Received rejection letter via snail mail from Colombia, very nicely written "unfavorable decision" lol. I know it was a long shot, but I just HAD to shoot my shot.
2/27/2019 Still haven't received my UMD admit letter. I think they might have mailed the letter out on Monday, so I expect to receive it by the end of this week. Hopefully they mail my financial package too!
This is another update that I should have added earlier:
I took the GRE in early February, and I did really really well (much better than my God awful LSAT.) I have submitted those scores to the following schools: UPenn, Georgetown, and NYU
2/27//2019 - Received the infamous "Hold Tight" email from NYU. I immediately responded asking if they'd seen my GRE scores.
I have still yet to receive offer letter from UMD as of 2/27; Katrin Schroll emailed me saying that merit awards will not be posted until FASFA is completed. Gave me until March 1st
2/27/2019 Sent LOCI to GWU. I wanted to wait longer, but I got nervous and just sent it (its been two weeks since I got the wait-list decision) I sent it via email to the dean of admissions and I sent it via letter mail so someone is forced to review it and it gets added to my file.
2/28/2019 GWU sent an email confirming receipt of my LOCI. I made a tiny grammar error and it's killing me (spelled an instead of and). If you are sending a LOCI, don't be like me, read it multiple times over and over and over again and have others read it too. Ugh *face palm* I'm so stupid.
3/7/2019 FINALLY received Offer of Admission Letter from UMD in the mail. Included a letter with offer of admission, two pamphlets, and a two pager on how and when to submit first and second seat deposits. No other updates on any other schools as of 3/8/2019. As always, I will keep you posted!
3/15/2019 Denied at Upenn. This was a long stretch and it still hurts but I am still hopeful. I am still waiting to hear from 6 more school
3/22/2019 Dinged at GULC. 5 more schools to go.
3/29/19 in a Temple!!! Woot woot!!
Greetings all!
Its getting close to negotiating time! I know my LSAT is low, but my GPA and other parts of my application were obviously strong since I have been admitted to tier 1 schools. Now I am inching closer to negotiating time (I am still waiting to hear back from a few schools and I am waiting to pass April 15) I have been advised to not be afraid to ask (the worst that can happen is that they'll say no!)
Things that I am using as points of negotiation:
1. 75% Tuition Scholly at RWU,
2. Although I did not get into Upenn's Law School, I got into its Graduate school (I applied for a dual degree program there) and they offered me a substantial award.
3. The same is true for American, rejected by law school and admitted by Grad school with substantial merit award.
The schools I am focusing my energy on are Temple and UMD. They are the best ranked that I have gotten into to date . They are close in ranking and (I am assuming) competitors, I am still awaiting scholarship award totals from Temple and will post when they become available.
As always, please feel free to PM me with questions, or leave a comment on my wall! Best of luck to you all, future barristers!
4/4/2019 In at Villanova! The Dean of Admissions called me, he was so kind. I'm kinda freaking out lol AHHHH
4/15/2019 Withdrew from Villanova, Temple, RWU, and Widener
6/7/2019 Sorry for the late late post! Life's been busy. Currently deposited at UMD, but still riding the GW Waitlist ( I will ride it until the WHEELS fall OFF, haha). They sent me a feeler email last week! I will post here once I have more updates.
Best of luck to those still on waitlists, or those just beginning the process!
August 2020 update:
Its been so long since Ive been on here and I think the extra time Ive had on my hands has made me curious about my account. Im currently a second year at UMD! Classes are online but we are making it work. Please message me if you have any questions about the process or the what the atmosphere at UMD is like. I love it here and Im so glad I made the decision to attend. One more year after this!
