Additional info & updates

3/4/10 - Reject at Texas via status checker. Really no big surprise, but they let the application ride for so long that I started getting my hopes up that the in state residency would push me over the top. Oh well, Houston is a great school, and I should still be able to pin that down in the next couple weeks.

3/23/10 - Went back into review at UH on 3/15. Hopefully decision is on the way before April.

3/24/10 - Hell yeah, in at UH via status checker today. It was a long wait, but Im happy with my placement. Time to tear it up, and get into that top 10%.

I remember reading that in the applications, so I wasn't shocked. My grades aren't good enough for them to justify fitting me into that non-resident group.

My undergrad is from a school in VA, and I'm a PA resident. When I was looking at undergrad schools, they said most of their programs (including grad programs) were very strongly biased towards in-state students (this scared me enough to not even apply!) Anyway, I'm thinking the 65% in-state thing is pretty serious
