So it looks like U of Miami for me. Glad I am going to a school on the rise!

Work Experience:

-Legal Assistant/SEO Marketing for Defense Attorney
-Legal Assistant for Attorney specializing in Ch7/Ch13 bankruptcy
-SEO marketing agent for mortgage lending start up company

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-First two schools to hear from are Miami and Drexel. Waitlisted by drexel and on hold by Miami via status checker

-First acceptance is Ave Maria by email
10k scholarship in separate large envelope received one week after acceptance letter

-Accepted at Cal Western

-Rejected by U of Maryland. Not surprised.

-Waitlist Hofstra. Beginning to feel like a waitlist specialist.

-Waitlist whittier via status checker. Wow. Really... really...
-Withdrawing from whittier first thing tomorrow morning.

-Waitlisted Thomas Jefferson. Whittier and Thomas Jefferson were my backup schools. This is very discouraging.

-Waitlist Pace. Letter says, "to date, the Ave LSAT/GPA offered so far is 157/3.50." Damn, what a bad year to apply to law school. Admission standards seem to be going up from coast to coast.

- 02-21-09 A very strange thing has occurred. I received an acceptance letter into the Institute for Communications Law at Catholic University of Am. However I have not received word on being accepted into the law school yet. Status checker says Decision Rendered. I do know that only when an applicant is accepted into CUA does the institute review candidates for their institute. So ..... I GUESS I AM IN AT CATHOLIC!!!! But... I am trying for reserve enthusiasm until I actually get that acceptance letter into the law school itself. If this is true, then this is the greatest day of my life and will likely withdraw from all other schools and start a legal career in DC.

- 02-23-09 Call from Catholic. Admissions director apologized for accidently sending out a premature acceptance letter for their special programs. Apparently there is another applicant who was accepted with "a nearly identical name". I am not in at Catholic. My JD application is on hold. I spent the weekend online looking at housing in the DC area as well as reading up on all the faculty biographies. This is heartbreaking. Truly heartbreaking. Given my low LSAT the chances of getting in (for real) is slim to none. I may sound overly dramatic but this is the second worst day of my life.

-02-23-09 It's official. Small envelope rejection letter from Catholic after this weekend-long roller coaster. I wonder if I am the first LSN profile to have an acceptance and rejection letter sent by the same school. Sending an email to the dean making sure she knows of this catastrophic administrative error however I expect nothing from sending this email. Time to roll on...

-03-02-09 Waitlist albany. Waitlist waitlist waitlist waitlist.... law school letters in the mail aren't even exciting anymore. I prob won't know what school I am going to until the last month of summer.

-waitlist southwestern. Kind of bummed.

-Rejection Loyola. Not surprised

-Rejection Seattle. I am surprised I was not put on the waitlist. Unless Chapman comes through, it looks like I will attend Cal Western. I will likely put down my first deposit for Cal Western April 15. I like the school so far and plan on visiting it.

-Off the hold list and IN at Miami! Found out via email through MyUM Canes student profile. Acceptance letter is on the way in the mail. I am making my deposit and looks like I will practice law in Florida. I am ETERNALLY grateful for this opportunity and Miami actually DOES look at applications holistically and beyond low LSAT scores. I will also withdraw from a slew of schools that are pending or waitlisted.

-Made my deposit at Miami and secured housing. I guess there is no need checking LSN anymore. Miami here I come. Good luck everybody.

-Surprised I have been accepted to University of the Pacific after getting a waitlist by Chapman. This is a solid school and it made me happy to see the big package in the mail. I am still pretty set on Miami, however I love california and Pacific is tempting. I see if any scholarship money comes in (doubt it) before I make any moves. Time to withdraw from some more schools now that i have a GREAT second choice behind Miami.

For the comment. I was bummed out over CUA. I really thought I had a chance. I wrote them to be considered for PT instead, but they informed me I would have to wait until next cycle. With the ND WL I thought the Catholic schools would be a little kinder :). I have noticed that Catholic is being a bit more selective than usual this year, maybe they are trying to boost their rankings. Your publishing experience will serve you well. What is your top choice?

Nice.

I like your choices. I really wanted CUA. Hoepfully you get it so at least our split can be represented! UCI or Loyola would be awesome. I would love USD too. We'll see!

Me too!

Thanks for the comment. I was SO surprised too. I had only received one letter at the time, an acceptance to Cal Western. So... I was like, "Yay, another one!" What a surprise! Lewis & Clark went down the tubes yesterday. I still can't believe they accepted a 148 with a 3.14 with no significant softs. I'm very confused. It seems like this cycle is different from the last at lsn. Well, good luck with everything. I visited Cal Western Thursday. I actually have a better view of it now.

Why do you think they waitlisted you? I just decided to apply the other day. Our similar numbers make me nervous!

Ya well I am not withdrawing from USF, Chapman, and Pacific. I will likely withdraw from Cal western before the next seat deposit. Albany and Pace are gone, withdrawing today. I have visited U of Miami and fell in LOVE with the school. I was on hold and spoke to the admissions director in person and wrote a LOCI two weeks after we spoke. I think that helped my admission. I can see myself in Miami and the overall atmosphere of the school seemed very collaborative and friendly. Miami is expensive however not much more expensive than Cal Western which is a fourth tier school. Based on my limited options, Miami is a no brainer to me. But I will wait and see how my few remaining schools turn out.

Congrats!

Do you know that dude? I just noticed the comments. Lol. Thanks for sticking up for me. Too bad we aren't going to the same law school. You could be my body guard. Hehe.

Though I'm 99% sure I'm going to UofM, I am not 100% commited.
