Now that my cycle is over, my softs/app included:

-Grad degree from a foreign institution

-5+years work (international security type work) and military (combat - foreign military) experience overseas.

-Strong PS with clear narrative as to how I arrived at the decision to become a lawyer and what I want to do with my law degree.

-Paragraph in PS tailored to specific schools.

- Undergrad GPA addendum (parent passed away during finals freshman year)

Basically, I think my softs and PS made up for my lower GPA. I'm very happy with how my cycle turned out!

Additional info & updates

Columbia: Held in first Hold wave --> WL

Duke scholarship is really two: 90,000 dean's scholarship (after negotiation) and 21,000 for the joint LLM

NYU Scholarship is 30,000 a year for 1 and 2L, 18 guaranteed for 3L if I make more than 15,000 during 2L summer (and 30,000 again if I don't).

Georgetown Scholarship was originally 60,000. Negotiated up to 90,000. Then was raised, unsolicited, to 135,000.

No scholarship offered from UVA, attempted to negotiate but to no avail.

Hi sorry just noticed your comment. I didn't, but I addressed it in my PS. I also visited and spoke with an admissions official, not sure if that helped or not.
