Additional info & updates

I'm 22, a Senior in undergrad, and interested in law school. It hasn't exactly been a life-long dream, but these past few years have made me realize that I want to be more active in my life, my country, and my world. Law school creates an opportunity for me to accomplish that, and I'm all too eager to take it. I'm poor, independent, and as determined as you'll ever see. My opinions are big, and my mouth is bigger. I can play reserved, but I'd rather you know what I mean (and I'm not afraid to tell you either). I hate long walks on the beach, but I love a great conversation. I think I could talk forever, if I could find people that could do the same.

In a law school, I'm looking for something different. I don't just want to sit in class, though I accept that some things are better taught by a professional. I want to be immersed in it, and become as involved in the process as a person can without actually being buried in forms and tedium.

My GPA is unfortunate due to some family illnesses, but I'm hoping I can at least get my foot in the door at one of these places so they can see that I can be powerhouse. The LSAT's terrify me, but I'm progressing. Registered for the test in September. Just two more months!

I keep telling myself to look outside Chicago, but I've spent my whole life around here. Then again, I'd really like to see what other regions and cities have to offer. In looking at different programs, I'd really like a shot at International Law (hence my current dreams about American), but some part of me always wants to pursue a dual degree with either an MBA or MPA. NIU has a decent MPA program, but from students I've spoken to, the JD program is less than stellar. We'll see. Right now, I'm just trying to focus a little less on reading every profile on LSN (which I swear I've just about done), and a little more on LSAT prep. Has anyone seen the prices of those things?!?! $1000? I don't think Sallie Mae will look kindly on requesting financial aid for a test prep class :(

Good luck!

Thanks for the support! Don't worry about the LSAT - it's a beast that CAN be tamed! Good luck!
