Additional info & updates

6/6 - With the (late) rejection from UBC I can now say that my cycle has officially come to an end. So happy to be in Eugene this fall! Best of luck to everyone still on waitlists

5/14 - Long road has finally come to an end. Disappointed that Stetson didn't work out (aka more money) but I'm ecstatic to be a Duck next fall! The tour went well and the sun even came out for my visit :) All is well.

4/30 - Shocked. Dumbfounded. Ecstatic. I have NO idea how I was accepted so late in the game to Oregon, but I am thrilled! Going into the cycle the school seemed like my best fit, and I was pretty disappointed when I didn't hear anything sooner. After a very long cycle, I now have a pretty difficult decision to make between two schools that are literally as far apart in the country as you can get.

Sidenote - Updated my profile to show more accurate stats now that the cycle is over (more or less). The part of my application that I felt hindered me the most was probably the clincher for Oregon seeing as they are well qualified in Dispute Resolution and value that skill set.

4/26 - Dinged off the waitlist at Wake. My pre-cycle #1 gave me some false hope with that WL, but at least I'm that much closer to knowing it is Stetson for sure.

4/10 - Absolutely wowed by Stetson at the admitted students open house. They were so incredibly friendly and gave a very thorough outlook on what the school offers. I will wait to hear from the two PNW schools and the 3 WLs, but as of this moment I will be in St. Petersburg this Fall.

3/28 - Rejected at Tennessee without a change on status checker, and was pretty bummed about that. Being saved until the end is flattering (I guess), but still would've liked to been admitted. Waitlist letter from Richmond was more positive than my acceptance letters, and definitely got me excited for the possibility. Is it realistic? Maybe not, but at least it's not a rejection

Sidenote - Is anyone planning on attending the Stetson Open House on April 9th? Trying to pull some $$$ together for the trip

3/15 - Rejected after being deferred to regular admissions at Colorado. Also had my decision letter mailed from Baylor for Summer term (expecting a ding after I didn't get in for Spring).

3/7 - I've been going over in my head what the glaring problem with my application could be and I think I may have an answer. My main goal for going through law school is to become a mediator. I love the process and think it is by far the best way to resolve disputes. Unfortunately, I believe law schools see this as a poor choice for wanting to go through their program. Their goal is to train practicing lawyers. If anyone has any opinion on this please feel free to share.

2/15 - Waitlisted at LSU and rejected at Kentucky. I'll throw in a disclaimer that I did fudge my numbers a bit (not by much though), so if you are comparing please don't think you will have as poor a cycle as I've had so far

2/4 - Finally some good news! Admitted at Stetson via Email. It's a comparable school to Marquette rankings-wise, but helps ease my fears over going to a school where I would have weather-shock. Decision letter mailed from Cardozo (probably a rejection) and file pending for a decision at Kentucky (no idea what this means).

1/28 - Been about a month since I updated, and it's been a rough ride. Rejected at a couple more schools which always hurts regardless of whether it was a reach or a target. The waitlist from Wake would feel awful in most other circumstances, but it feels good knowing that I still have a shot at least. I met Melanie Nutt at the LA fair and she was very pleasant, so I'm hoping that can play into a future acceptance

12/27 - Application moved from ED to RD at Colorado. Assuming this is a guaranteed rejection

12/20 - Rejected at Baylor for Spring, and I don't think disappointed really captures how I feel about this. This school seemed like a great fit for me, but I don't see them accepting me for Summer due to the lower numbers for their Spring class. Oh well. Still have hope for many more great institutions!

12/17 - Really nervous about the decision letter mailed at Baylor. This is my most realistic shot and the only school that has Spring start. Crossing my fingers for some good news!

12/16 - Rejected at W&L via status checker. No surprise here.
12/16 - Decision letter mailed at Tulane. Seems as though people have been admitted via email, so I can only assume this is a rejection. Very disappointed as this was probably my top choice for Fall programs. Still holding out for Baylor Spring! Should be receiving my CU Boulder rejection letter any day now.

12/15 - Rejected at Catholic. Definitely a surprise. I think the worst part of it was the status checker... Their "judgement" of the "strenght" of my application is not a prediction of my ability to study law. They would, however, like to "offy" me the best wishes in my future "endevors".

I really would have hoped a law school might put a little more effort into the spell check button. But who am I to object? I'm just bitter at getting rejected from a school I thought was a lock.

12/10 - As expected, received my first rejection today from UIUC. Probably the nicest rejection letter I've received since I applied 2 years ago. Dean Pless seems like an awesome guy. Also decided that I am not going to take the LSAT for a third time. So, here are my numbers and so they will stay. Hoping for the best!

Side note - I changed some of the applications to complete as of today's date because they were waiting on my December LSAT score. Now that they are notified of my decision not to take it, my applications have gone complete.

11/22 - First acceptance today!!! Into Marquette! I've read people say that it is a huge relief getting that first acceptance, and I always thought it was a load of crock... Gotta say, I'm feeling fantastic right now :) If anyone can attest to the weather in Milwaukee during winter, I would love to hear!

10/29 - LSAT scores came out today. Disappointed in my score, but considering a 2nd retake for December test. At this point I foresee a whole slew of waitlists.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Took the LSAT December '08 and applied for the 2009 cycle with mixed results. Was deciding between Willamette w/ money or Chapman sticker, and chose neither hoping that a masters would increase my chances at a later time.

Retook the LSAT this October and awaiting results. Would be very happy with a 5 point boost, but have been consistently testing 163-166 range on diagnostics. I felt pretty good about the test coming out of it.

Although most of my work experience is in Sports, but that's not where my main focus is anymore. I'm really interested in mediation, but I need to find a particular area of law to specialize in. I'm leaning towards family law, but I could see myself going in any direction.

Just a safety in case admissions committees check the site and see someone with my exact numbers and softs ranking their schools and posting my opinion about their school. As far as I know most people fudge their numbers a bit for this reason
