Additional info & updates

So, I have been an enlisted U.S. Marine for eight years and am looking to become a JAG officer. I was a non-traditional student, although I did attend the University of Wisconsin for a year. I was called back to active duty and finished my degree through distance education. I guess I will see how true the "holistic" approach to admissions is.

12/4 - Retaking the LSAT tomorrow...fingers crossed.

12/28 - New LSAT Back, super stoked. New round of apps going out with the New Year.

01/10 - In at Baylor...very excited. It feels good to know that I am going to law school. Notified via status checker.

01/22 - In at PSU via status checker. So far, so good.

01/28 - Rejected at UVA via e-mail. Huge reach in the first place, so this was expected.

01/31 - In at Syracuse via large envelope...Bonus T-Shirt Included!

02/09 - In at Louisville via Facebook. HA.

02/11 - Dinged at UIUC via e-mail.

02/25 - Slow mail strikes again...e-mail from ASU financial aid office let's me know I am in...haven't heard from actual admissions...(03/02 package from ASU arrives, post-marked 19 Feb)

03/13 - Waitlisted at MN via status checker...interesting.

03/14 - Dinged at UT via status checker.

03/19 - Waitlisted at William & Mary.

03/26 - In at Oregon via large envelop...Just waiting on UNC to wrap up the cycle. LET'S GO TAR HEELS!!!

04/27 - Damn waitlist at UNC. This is not cool.

05/05 - HOLY S, off the waitlist, in at WISCY!

Thanks for the well wishes! Have you looked into the USMC FLEP equivalent? I know that the AF takes a couple of dudes every year from active duty and pays for their LS (as well as O-3 pay and BAH)to make them JAGs. It's a very competitive program but a good recommendation from your commander can go a long way. Otherwise, I'm sure that you're eligible for the Post-9/11 GI Bill benefits (probably at 100%). Good luck on the application process and make the most of the free education. You've certainly earned it.

Baylor

Hey what did you status checker change to for baylor.

re: Baylor
Monday, November 02 2009 at 07:00 PM

At first it said something like, "Congratulations. You have been admitted to Baylor Law School. Your admissions package is on the way." Now it says, "A decision has been made on your application file and your decision letter has been mailed." I don't know why it changed...

Baylor Glitch
Monday, November 02 2009 at 07:00 PM

So after a phone conversation with Suzy at Baylor admissions, she said they had a glitch with their status checker and they have changed it so that it doesn't tell you the decision but rather that one was made.

My status checker thing changed too, so I emailed over there on Saturday and they emailed right back with the same info. I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one who was worried!

re: U of L

I live in Germany, so the mail is really slow. The assistant dean of admissions asked me to join the U of L Class of 2013 Facebook group, so I figure the letter is still in the mail.
