Additional info & updates

I decided to withdraw from the Pepperdine Waitlist.
I will pull my waitlist from Houston when I get my financial info set up with SMU. My credit is ify at the moment and I don't want to let go of Houston in case I do get in (especially since it's much cheaper).

Still waiting on W&L and Vandy (either of which I'll accept in a heartbeat)

If you want to get into Houston, send a letter of intent. Just got into SMU so I don't care anymore. Good luck!

Ouch. Yeah I feel your pain, I was deferred last year but with much lower numbers (150/3.76). They ended up waitlisting me and then rejecting me. If I were you, I would send an additional LOR, submit essay #15 (if you haven't already), send an updated resume (if you have something to update), and a letter of interest. I know a number of people who have been accepted off of waitlists because they demonstrated the interest. SMU took forever to move me from the deferral pile last year (FYI, I didn't do anything extra until AFTER I was waitlisted). Just give it a shot, you have nothing to lose other than postage and a few hours and have a ton to gain (if you really want to attend SMU). Personally, I think SMU has admitted all they wanted from the EA pile and are waiting to see what the regular admissions has to offer. There was a record number of applicants for EA but the numbers look like they are going down for regular, so I think you still have a decent shot, Good luck!

It is just a simple letter expressing your interest in their school. I know a number of Deans recommend letting them know that you are in fact interested in their school. Express that you would go if an offer was extended (that is, if you will go) and let them know that they are your #1. Talk about a particular program you are interested in, how you would like to live in the area once you graduate, how you liked the school....anything that is specific to that school. It should be short and sweet. Oh, and thank them for the additional consideration on your file. Whatever else is up to you, good luck.

I received my deferral email on Nov. 17

I actually heard back from L&C but haven't updated my profile. Love to transfer that Baylor admit but it was for the summer term. Technically I am still waiting to hear from them for the Fall, but I know my chances are slim. Good luck with the rest of your applications!
