Additional info & updates

12-20-05: An acceptance! Phone call from Penn dean. Sort of an awkward conversation, but still very exciting.

12-21-05: Accepted at Northwestern via email --> website --> pdf. Did this strike anyone else as poor PR? I certainly feel fortunate to be accepted, but a roundabout pdfed letter--no matter where its from--just doesnt feel the same as a package in the mail.

12-23-05: Michigan! Package via snail mail. Accepted to summer start program (I had requested either summer or fall).

12-30-05: Deferral from NYU via snail mail.

01-23-06: Rejected from Stanford via snail mail. Oh well. Really kind letter, though.

01-27-06: COLUMBIA!!! So amazing. I feel ridiculously fortunate.

02-09-06: Deferred from Harvard via snail mail. Coolcool.

02-23-06: Accepted at Boalt via email.

03-23-06: Waitlisted at UVa via email.

04-18-06: Notified via email that I am an alternate for Penn's PI scholarship. Withdrew from UVa.

04-19-06: Offered money from Northwestern.

04-25-06: Offered a bit more money from Northwestern.

04-26-06: Offered Public Interest Scholarship at Penn!!

04-27-06: Waitlisted at NYU via snail mail. Northwestern upped their offer again. Advice to future applicants: wait until the last minute to accept an offer from Northwestern.

05-01-06: Withdrew from several schools. The Penn email was particularly painful. Dean Meeker rocks.

05-06-06: Waitlisted at Harvard.

05-14-06: Sent additional info to Harvard. Crossing my fingers for an acceptance, but the alternative is damn nice, too.

09-07-06: At Columbia, and couldn't be happier--no question about it.

Where do you think you're headed? Seems like Columbia would be the obvious choice...?

Seems indeed like we are in the same boat. I sent in my deposit to Columbia and am staying on the Y and H waitlists. Will probably go crazy waiting, and will wind up at Columbia stressed out about the whole thing....What's your plan?
