why aren't you applying to UVA?

UVA .. why not?

Mmmm .. good question. I was not sure it was the right type of school for me, or with the strong international law program/human rights that I was looking for. Also, with so many apps out, I had to cut down the list. I seriously considered it though.

toby phone call

hello lasmo! congrats on getting the phone call! if you don't want to pore through the 30 pages of lsd thread, basically the phone call was very relaxed, very cool. toby called and i was pretty sure it was him as it was a new 617 phone number, he said my name, he introduced himself, asked about a couple things on my resume (although i got the impression that this was more just to see how i presented myself and responded in conversation e.g. was i likable, was i a nice person?), asked me what i'd been doing with my time since them (i highlighted a big project i worked on that wasn't in my app package), and then asked me if i had any questions. very low stress, he's super friendly and very easy to talk to, it was about a 25 min phone call, have fun and good luck!!!

Where do you think you're headed?

Congrats!

Thanks. I'm not 100% sure where I'm heading next year. I'm leaving towards Harvard, but still waiting to hear about some $$ from other schools.

Congrats!

Congrats on NYU. Hope to see you there!

NYU

Hey- There are a few reasons why I'm choosing NYU over Harvard. First, I want to stay in NY. I love the city and don't want to spend three years in cambridge Massachusetts. I'd like to enjoy NY while I still can. Second, NYU has great placement in NY corporate practice. Third, NYU has poached a TON of new professors this past year. Fourth, the student body at NYU seems a lot nicer and not as snotty. Lastly, I really believe that NYU has a lot of room for growth while some other schools are stagnant or declining. I find it exciting!

congratulations

You've had quite a cycle. Do you mind if I ask if the money you got from NYU was tied to any sort of fellowship?

Hi! I read your post on LSD about being a current RTK scholar and being willing to answer questions about the program. I was just today granted an interview and have some questions I would love to ask you! If you're not too busy, I'd really appreciate it if you would send me an email so I can get in touch with you personally. Thanks a bunch!
