Additional info & updates

great LOR, multilingual
Took the LSAT twice (166 and 175)

I withdrew from Michigan because I got more money at other similarly-ranked schools.

Penn offered to put me on their waitlist. I think they just wanted to see if I was really interested in going there. I wasn't.

I applied for the international law scholarship at NYU, but they didn't even invite me to interview for it. They offered me a Dean's Scholarship instead, which made it much easier for me to turn NYU down.

I turned down Columbia, despite its great reputation for international law, because I have no desire to live in New York.

Chicago is a great school, but I need to get out of the Midwest for awhile.

Virginia is fabulous, but I don't think it's the best fit for my personality and my interests. Hard to pass up the Dillard though.

The admissions committee informed me that I am too dumb to go to Yale Law School on April 24. Way to wait 'till the last minute guys.

How I did

Hi, Sorry for making you wait! The schools were very receptive to the retake, thank goodness! I think the difference in scores was enough for them to disregard my first one. I'm still waiting to hear from Yale, but I got into all of the other schools I applied to (except Penn--waitlisted).

You're a superstar, no question about it. I'm sure Dick is very proud!

It was by snail mail. Good Luck on your app.

Why Hide?
Thursday, April 21 2005 at 08:00 PM

I like to keep my cards hidden.

H over S
Thursday, April 21 2005 at 08:00 PM

It was a tough call, but I am really interested in international law, and H obviously dwarfs S in its offerings. I also met a few people at H who are interested in immigration issues and practice in Latin America (as I am), and that clinched the decision for me. S is also too isolated - I like to be in a city with decent public transportation.

yale

oh, I would have chosen H anyway. Yale is too small and too philosophical for me. Plus I would shoot myself if I had to live in New Haven.

fluke
Thursday, April 21 2005 at 08:00 PM

My lower score was definitely a fluke. It was much lower than my scores on my practice tests. I was just really nervous the first time I took the test, which made it impossible for me to think clearly. I learned a few relaxation techniques before the second test.

Dillard

I'm sorry Dillard! It was tough to turn you down. Please forgive me!
