FSU

On getting into FSU, my numbers are a touch higher than my profile indicates, but not by much. Coupled with the fact that I'm not a resident, I'd say it's up in the air at the moment. If I had to guess, I think I'll get into Florida before FSU and I'll probably find my way onto a wait list at both of them. I think that you'll be good to go though, since you're a resident and you already attend (I presume). Are you planning on applying to any of your other listed schools? You should be in at Miami based on your numbers and who they've let in so far. Good luck to you.

EA/Miami
Sunday, August 19 2007 at 08:00 PM

EA is not binding. ED is binding. Different places have different policies on exactly what "binding" means. UM doesn't have an official EA, they just tell you that if you apply before November 15th (I'm think) that you will recieved a decision by December 15th...or something along those lines. So, it's not official, but it's exactly the same. I'm not sure why someone wouldnt' take the EA option at any school if they could get their app in early enough since it is not binding.

I'm still thinking that we both have a shot at FSU, but I'd say that you'll probably get in well before me. Since I'm not a resident and my LSAT is a few points below their 25% for last year's class, I think it's kind of a crapshoot in my case, but one that I'm willing to take.

Yeah, I'm almost positive I won't attend there next year.

Penn State

Ya, the scholarship offer came with the acceptance. It's not much money considering the tuition. I was excited at the prospect of living in University Park and all, but it looks like I'd come out with too much debt. I'd need a sweeter offer to go I think.

You have some great options on the board. If I were you, and I'm not, but if I was, I'd make the decision based mainly on if I wanted to live in FA or PA for the rest of my life. Granted, neither is a definite, but I figure that you can't go wrong if you're ready to stay where you go to law school. Florida State or Penn State, both are excellent schools. I almost applied to Penn State and would have if they waived my fee, so as far as I'm concerned, you're golden. It's a great decision to have to make. As for polls and rankings, meh, big deal. FSU fell 2 in USNWR this year, but they could have fallen out of the top 100 for all I care, I still would be going there. Speaking of which, I'm definitely going to FSU next year. It's the school that I most wanted to get into in the state that I most wanted to make my way to, so it's basically a non-decision for me. Congrats again on everything and whatever you decide, I'm sure that you'll make a good decision. Hopefully, I'll see you around this Fall, you seem alright.

PSU/FSU

I wasn't at ASD, but my sister was. She is also deciding b/w PSU and FSU. I am for sure going to FSU. I paid my seat deposit and everything. Some major reasons for my decision: cost (I am a Florida resident), location (it's the state capital and I'm interested in gov. affairs and constitutional law), and cost. LOL. But seriously, I think Penn State is a great school, but FSU fits much more with where I want to go. Also, I did my master's at FSU and already have some really great political connections in the city. Feel free to email me if you have any more questions, and good luck with your decision!
