Additional info & updates

MBA in August 2006 (3.15 GPA)
6 years work experience in finance

Busy working professional, also attending an MBA part-time. Little time to study for LSAT. Also very little I can do about undergrad grades. Had a decent GPA in graduate school - hope admissions officers take notice. Worked half-time during undergrad to minimize student loans.

03-10-06 Accepted to Cooley in their alternative program. Big, thick, white envelope with a sticker on the outside reading "Tuition Invoice Enclosed." Nice! Must agree to take 9 hours or less first and second term. No problem! Glad to be admitted somewhere, but not 100% convinced it's worth leaving a $75K/yr. job to take on $100,000 student loans. Confident I would do well in law school, but concerned about job prospects with this school.

Still waiting on Cleveland-Marshall & Nova Southeastern. Applied to CSU through LCOP. I hope I don't get an AAMPLE response from Nova - I'd probably accept it over Cooley, and it's a risky move.

03-29-06 Thin, white envelope from C-M. Rejected. Not a complete shocker, but disappointing. We'll see what Nova has to say. I have decided that I am not interested in the AAMPLE program, however.

04-22-06 Waiting on Nova is irritating. It appears that there are quite a few pending applications out there. I wish they could tell me something. Either way, it would be nice to have some direction and to start making plans for where I will be moving. Anyone feeling my pain? Feel free to post comments (only polite ones will remain posted).

"SO WHAT'S THE DEAL WITH NOVA?!" - in a Jerry Seinfeld-esqe voice... I mean, how much longer can they take? Anyone have any idea what's going on? I've already sent one email to the adcom about a month ago. I don't want to send another.

You may or may not know about the following information... Cooley's business and legal model is to weed people out, hence their low retention rate (high attrition rate). They basically accept everybody, knowing that the LSAT isn't for everyone. They do believe that it will really take extreme work ethic, drive, and determination to succeed. I have heard that the professors at Cooley could care less about the students. There is no personal time with professors. For me, if Cooley is the only option, I will attend. However, I just don't like the cold weather, but if I have to, I'll deal with it. If you get accepted to Cleveland or NOVA, I would attend either. Keep Cooley as your last resort if possible. I'll be watching your profile. Keep me posted.

I applied to Cleveland State via regular admission. I am kind of taking an all or nothing approach to law school. In regards to a bleak job outlook... Keep your ties to finance and try to be an "in-house attorney" for some financial institution, if this is of interrest to you. There's always a demand regardless of the economy. I don't plan to be an attorney. I want to go to law school for business purposes. As you know, half of the hurdles in business, deal with legal issues and contracts.

Smitty I didn't go to Ohio State I went to Bowling Green. I show your recent update about Cleveland State and I think that sucks. But hey you got into Cooley. If you are worried about leaving your job for Cooley why don't you just attend Cooley on the weekend? You still have Nova left as a choice and so do I. I will pray for both of us. Please reply.

CSU email

How long did it take for you to recive something in the mail after you got that stupid email? I think I might call the school and tell them what I think ! The person who is in chrage of sending these emails (Monique McCarthy) should be held responsible. Law school is a life changing decision and it should not be played around with by someone who has their degree and who does not know how to email the proper person.

I don't understand why I got rejected from Cooley there are people with lower numbers than me that received the opportunity to enter Cooley on a probationary status. This crap is crazy.
