Additional info & updates

05-13-06- Received a nice sized envelope from FAMU. I got accepted through their LEAP program but i'm going to deny it. I think Detroit Mercy is a better fit because it's cheaper and the quality of the school is better.
05-04-06- Received small envelope from Charlotte, that's ok I only applied because it was free.
04-25-06- Received a "small" letter from Widener and of course it was a rejection letter. No hard feelings I filled out that application because it was free.
04-24-06- I just got off the phone with Kimberly Jones who is the director of recruitment at Univ of Detroit Mercy. I found out that the Special Summer Program is on a pass fail basis and if you pass the SSP you are admitted into the law school for the fall. I also found out that last year 40 people attended and this year they are looking for 60 people to attend. In addition, Ms Jones told me that about 20%-50% pass the courses. This is just a little extra info for everyone to consider.

04-21-06- I received good news today. I was asked to enter the Special Summer Program at the University of Detroit Mercy Schhol of Law. The program is much cheaper than the Applachian Summer Program. I know if I choose to attend I will work hard. For I have proved myself in graduate school.
04-10-06- I guess I am not confused about Cleveland Marshall anymore. I received a letter in the mail today with my offical rejection. I might write a letter to Cleveland State telling them how I feel in regard to receiving an acceptance email and then a retraction. I also received a rejection letter from Texas Southern, that was a a huge surprise. I really dont want to spend money on Applachian's PASO program because I heard the chances of acceptance into the school are slim.
04-07-06- Okay this is crazy and scary at the same time. I received an email from Cleveland Marshall Financial Aid office saying that I was accepted. However, 15 min later I received another email asking me to retract the previous email. I don't know what to do I am really on the edge because this is my first choice. I pray to God that I did get in. I will wait a couple of days and if I don't receive anything official in the mail I will call. Until then pray for me and I will do the same for everyone.
03-31-06- I applied to North Carolina Central and Charlotte, we will see what happens
03-30-06- I am not suprised about this rejection either. When I checked Drexel's website last week they said they had already accepted 90 out of the 120 available slots. Therefore, I knew the odds were slim. I am really hoping that Cleveland State or Univ of Dayton will pull through.
03-18-06-No surprise here! I received a rejection letter from Florida Coastal.
03-17-06- Received rejection letter from St. Thomas I don't understand when looked at their acceptance numbers on the LSDAS website I fit right in. PLus, I am getting a master's. Oh Well, everything happens for a reason.
3-15-06- Received Denial Letter from Ohion Northern
3-15-06- Received acceptance to Appalachian through Summer Program
Will Receive Master of Arts in Aug 06
Received Bachelor of Arts Dec 04- Political Science and Sociology
Although my undergrad GPA is poor I have a 3.4 GPA in my Master's program
LSAT: Dec 04- 139, Feb 06- 143, Avg- 141
* All schools that are noted special application means I applied for their summer start or conditional program

Alsdkj, Yes I was accepeted to the PASO program however, I am a bit nervous about the odds of gettin in.

St. Thomas
Friday, February 17 2006 at 07:00 PM

I received my rejection letter from St. Thomas on the 17th as well. Congrats on Appalachian! I applied to them around the same time so I hope to hear something soon. Good luck to you!

FAMU

I did recently apply to Florida A & M. I guess I forgot to update my profile with that info. I would love to get in there since it is a short drive from my home and I'd be paying in-state tuition.

Good Luck

As you know, this waiting part is the worse. Well, at least you know you have a law school waiting for you. Congrats! I'll keep you posted on my status. Hang in there.

I've been looking at your numbers - very similar to mine. Did you go to Ohio State? I also applied to Cleveland State via LCOP. I've had to work hard all through undergrad and grad, and it really affected my grades and the amount of time I have been able to dedicate to LSAT. I haven't heard a thing yet from CSU, and it's driving me nuts. At any rate - I included my email address for you in the event you want to respond privately.

good luck. maybe we'll see each other at nova?! i applied a little late too, now i'm scared. why did you decide not to apply to UDC?

Thanks!
Thursday, March 23 2006 at 07:00 PM

Delta, Thanks for the best wishes! Bowling Green is a great school. I have had many friends and family attend there. I am surprised at C-M. I thought they would have looked past the low GPA, especially since I applied LCOP. Waiting in Nova stinks. I'm reasonably certain they'll grant me an AAMPLE admission, but I'm will not accept that. I am going to retake the LSAT this fall and hopefully get some scholarship $ at Cooley. I'll try to work my way to the top of my class, and do some good externships and/or law review, etc. I am worried about leaving my job in Cleveland because I have really worked hard to get where I am or five years. It would be impossible to replace that in Lansing. Also, I've decided I want to dedicate my attention 100% to law school and make the most of it. I'll keep an eye on your profile, and I'll be pulling for you! Smitty

C-M
Thursday, March 23 2006 at 07:00 PM

Sorry about the rejection at C-M. If I were you, I\\\'d call them or send them a letter letting them know that their retraction was uncalled for. Why don\\\'t you call Cooley and ask about your admission? You seem to meet their index, unless they increased their LSAT minimum. Let\\\'s hold our breaths and hope to hear from Nova!

I just received an invite to the PASO program at Appalachian. I don't know if it's worth trying or not. What are your thoughts?

go hiram :)
Monday, March 27 2006 at 07:00 PM

I am SO sorry about that CM thing... I just heard about that on the news. That is seriously awful. It reminds me of when they announced the wrong name for homecoming queen at my high school. When were you at hiram?

I e-mailed you, but I think you may have mis-typed the e-mail address in your post. It said the address didn't exist.

I was actually thinking about it when I first received the letter, but then I thought about it and decided that if I do not get a regular acceptance then I will forget about law school for now. I agree, it is a lot of money for a slim chance to be admitted. I am really hoping to get into Florida A & M since I will still be able to live at home and pay in state tuition. I hope we both get acceptance letters soon! This process is grueling, it's hard to be optimistic. About an hour ago I received another rejection. This one was from Barry.

yep!

Prof. Alaolmolki is still there! He was my advisor :) I am praying for you! Pray for me too if you don't mind.. I hate this waiting.

hey! im going to UDM's SSP too... did u already send in your deposit etc? where will you be living? im clueless as i'm not from the area.

Congrats - and lookout Michigan!
Thursday, March 23 2006 at 07:00 PM

Delta, Congrats on Detroit Mercy! I think that is a Jesuit school, isn't it? I am actually getting my MBA at John Carroll University in Cleveland, and I have grown very impressed by Jesuit education. At any rate, since Nova is taking their sweet time, I am planning on starting at Cooley, and potentially transfering to Michigan State to specialize in health law. Lookout Michigan! Happy to see your results - I know you'll do well in the summer program, especially after having been through a graduate program! :-)

got ur reply to my post. thanks for posting up that additional info from ur phone call with Ms. Jones. Hopefully it's 50% that pass, that makes it a little better. and 60 ppl to attend after this summer? that's great news =) gives me a little more confidence. see u this summer as well! gl!

UDM - SSP
Wednesday, December 14 2005 at 07:00 PM

Sounds like u got the info you were looking for about SSP. However, I'll go ahead and post the response from the Director of Recruitment, dated April 12. ---------------------------------------- So far, we have extended seats in the SSP to 45 individuals. Historically, a third to half will accept our offer. Of those that accept our offer, approximately 20% -50% successfully complete the program and matriculate in the fall. Again, I'd like to emphasize that the School does not have a set number that it will take from the SSP. It's on a pass/fail basis. So, if a participant passes, he/she has a seat in our fall class, unlike other programs that may take only the top 10% - 25% of participants.

SSP, Pt. 2
Wednesday, December 14 2005 at 07:00 PM

Oh, and the 2L I spoke with who went through SSP said the summer program is similar to a law school semester. The courses (Crim Law, Legal Writing) are as difficult, so it will be a good measure to determine success in law school.

hey :)
