Whoever said they left their heart in San Francisco has never been to Portland Oregon. I was there for 3 days and all I can think about is going back! I actually considered paying out the rest of my lease and moving now. I don't want to miss the whole summer and the amazing fluffy pink trees that grow there.

I have now received all of my decisions and this pretty much wraps up my cycle. I may or may not decide to remain on some waitlists, but that will become increasingly difficult as time goes on throughout the summer. Yay for Lewis and Clark! It was one of my top choices from the start. I applied to a lot of schools, and I would have been happy going to any one of them, but I think I may have applied to too many for lack of faith in myself.

So to all future applicants, these choices seemed really hard for me as I made them, but I think deep down I really knew what I wanted all along.

Additional info & updates

5/5/10: Just received waitlist from UC Davis. Thrilled!

4/30/10: Just received San Diego waitlist email and elected to withdraw. It's a nice place but I'm still really excited about Portland!

4/30/10: Watching the clock and hoping for an email from UNC today. They have a program that I really really love.

4/20/10: The withdrawal from Arizona hurt, a lot. I just really love L&C.

4/15/10: Decided on L&C over Oregon and Willamette after visiting all three. Oregon and Willamette were both great but Portland stole my heart.

4/3/10: Accepted at Arizona! WOOHOOO!!!!!!

3/17/10: U. of Oregon vs. Lewis and Clark vs. Willamette... Any advice?

3/15/10: Wishing and Hoping for a tier 1!!!

3/4/10: Numbers are fudged a bit for anonymity. I sent in most of my applications in late December and early January, and I'm hoping that's not too late considering that this cycle is supposed to be extra competitive. Best of luck to everyone, I know this is a difficult process and the rejection sucks, but just remember, even the Beatles were turned down by record labels before they hit it big!

I am always interested in what's going on with my fellow applicants. Please feel free to send me a message!

In response to your 3/17 question I say Lewis & Clark! For me it is only second best to UW in the northwest. Portland is a fabulous city too! I am hoping to get in there! Congrats!

No I have not heard from L&C. I received an e-mail that my application is being held for further review. I'm still crossing my fingers!

Thanks & GL!

love the rant! wish more people had the ability to think like that rather than perpetuating the status quo.

no idea

nope, not yet! i have three deposits out right now: santa clara, lewis & clark and temple. i want to do environmental law, so l&c has the best program, but no aid other than loans. i want to end up in the bay area, so santa clara has regional pull but the stipulations on their scholarships make me question the level of competition i'd have to endure. and temple is my most affordable option, but i know nothing about philly or the east coast. so i'm stuck on those three. hopefully visits will clear things up and i fall in love with one of them. but then there are the waitlists...
