Additional info & updates

5/10--My cycle was over as soon as UT accepted me, and REALLY REALLY over after they gave me that sweet scholly. I didn't withdraw anywhere before getting a decision, because I wanted the Mex-Am. URM data on LSN. Now that I have it, here is how my cycle compares to LSP:

WL: Eight total. Two Strong Considers, 1 Weak Consider, 2 Considers, 3 Admit.

Reject: Three total. 1 Weak Consider, 2 Consider.

Accepted: Eight Total. 7 Admit, 1 Strong Consider.

I don't think there were any red flags in my file; I have a couple of years of strong work experience and a professional license. I do think that applying in January had a negative influence on my cycle, and that maybe the URM boost is less strong for Mexican Americans than other URMs. I am crazy grateful to have gotten into my dream school--I don't think I could ever leave Texas, and I am super excited to move to Austin in the fall!

02/01/10--Today rivals my wedding and graduation days for best day of my life. IN AT UT!

01/08/2010--I will likely retake in June if no one bites, but I am setting this up anyway so we can see how much applying late affects my cycle. Good luck to all of you!

I have very early memories of my mother telling me to "have an attitude of gratitude". It sure does make life a lot easier. Congrats on UT, and good luck with Vanderbilt. They would be very lucky to have you.
