Additional info & updates

Hey guys - if you're in this cycle and have questions re Northeastern, feel free to message me! But please be aware I check this site only every couple of weeks so there may be a delay.

All numbers are three year totals.

4/20 - Cardozo increased their scholarship to full tuition. NUSL actually has a better public interest/national reach, CoL is lower, and I liked them. Still going to NUSL.

3/27 - Visited NUSL's open house day and put my deposit down pretty much as soon as I got back to my hotel.

3/26 - Cardozo scholarship increased to $45,000/yr.

3/20 - American randomly gave me more money. Feeling the heat, AU?

3/17 - Attempted to take the W&L scholarship to UMD, who informed me (politely, although possibly in copy-and-paste form) that they don't negotiate.

3/12 - Dinged on the BC public interest scholarship.

3/6 - Dinged on the American Public Interest Scholarship. As that is the only thing that would have kept me in DC, it looks like I'm moving. I still haven't heard from BC re their public service scholarship and it's later than expected so I'm bracing myself.

3/4 - Received UMD scholarship information via e-mail. It'd be a good deal if I was getting their in-state rates, but I'm not.

2/26 - Received BC scholarship information (Note: it was routed to the Spam filter!). Public interest scholarship still pending.

2/25 - Interviewed with BC as a finalist for their public interest scholarship.

1/30 - Waitlisted at BU - confirmed continuing interest.

1/30 - American sent me initial scholarship information via e-mail. I also applied to their public service scholarship and that decision hasn't been made yet.

1/23 - W&L scholarship package arrived via USPS.

1/23 - Northeastern increased its scholarship package (works out to full tuition plus $8,000 to offset low paying public interest internships).

1/22 - Rejected from Gtown via email (insert shocked expression here).

1/8 - Had PILS phone interview with Northeastern.

1/7 - Got USPS packet from UMD. No scholarship info until I submit FAFSA.

12/19 - Got into the University of Maryland (via e-mail).

12/9 - In at Cardozo with a $30,000/yr scholarship, details coming via USPS (via voicemail. My phone is off at the office).

12/8 - Seton Hall awarded me $35,000 a year, stipulation my class rank in top 75% or at least a 2.80. It's one of the more expensive schools - tuition is just over 50K a year, so it works out to about a 70% reduction in tuition (USPS).

12/5 - Got into American via e-mail.

12/2 - Rejected (email) from GW.

11/26 - Waitlisted at Minnesota via e-mail.

11/25 - Got into Catholic (status checker). It's the only T3 I applied to, but they're local and have a clinic specific to the type of law I want to practice.

11/20 - Got into W & L (email). Scholarship info not until January.

11/18 - Phone call from NE (which I missed).
11/17 - Northeastern University accepted me and offered me a full-tuition scholarship ($45,000/yr) plus a $2,000 co-op stipend. Only condition is good standing (e-mail/status checker).

10/28 - Got into BC via Fast Track (e-mail). We'll see how the money pans out there.

My "rankings" - which school I'd prefer to go to - are dependent largely on my aid package. Trying to go to the best school I can go to for the least amount of money, and any huge scholarships will probably trump. That being said, I grouped by order of preference. Ungrouped ones would require serious scholarships for me to attend.

We have very similar numbers and are looking at some of the same schools. Congrats on Northeastern and BC so far. I am still waiting to hear back from both.

Congrats on the huge scholly to Northeastern! Did you receive your scholarship info at the same time as your admission decision?

Yes - it was in the acceptance letter (big and bold, first line of the second paragraph. It might have taken me awhile to read the rest of the letter).

Yeah, don't sweat MN. You know it really is too cold there when the campus has tunnels.

How did the Northeastern alums feel about their experience? And do you mind sharing what field you are interested in?
