Extra Curricular Information

my hobby/side job turned into a full fledged, successful business (not a lemonade stand) freshmen years of college. sold it to go to law school. worked 40+ hours per week while a full time student. MUN. LGBT. Personal statement discussed MUN, starting & running a business and how I hope to play an active role in the LGBT equality movement. Submitted an addendum stating how my long work hours affected my GPA, as I was always shuttling between school, home and the office.

Additional info & updates

6/7/2007 - A few final notes: I'm still hoping to get off the wait list at Southwestern, although I know I'll be happy at Cal Western. Either way, I am very excited about starting law school and I'm glad this process is finally coming to an end. WOW, what an ORDEAL. It has taken me two years, not counting my undergraduate studies, to get to where I am now. Really, I've gone through great emotional, physical, economic and academic hardship to get this point. Ive reached the end of an important chapter, while looking forward to beginning this new segment of my life.

Some observations/complaints:

CHAPMAN: Chapman has a strange admissions policy. It seems they reject very few people, offer scholarships to students who probably would never attend, and admit a handful of others who probably have better schools accepting them. The large majority of the other applicants are thrown into an increasingly large waiting pool. I withdrew my application for a number of reasons, one, because I don't want to live in the OC anymore and two, because I know people with both higher and much lower LSAT scores who were also put on the wait list. I don't like Chapman's admissions policy and how they're attempting to create a false sense of exclusivity. I voiced my criticism to the dean.

GOLDEN GATE: Today, nearly four months after submitting my application to Golden Gate, I was offered admission along with a scholarship. I think it is RIDICULOUS to take four months to send a decision letter to students. For a school that is on probation from the ABA, I wouldn't recommend waiting so long to admit students.... By the time I received their decision, I already submitted my deposit for Cal Western. How do they wish to gain favor with students? Certainly not in this fashion. A couple days before I received my decision, I wrote a letter to the dean demanding a refund for my app fee and that I would otherwise voice my complaint to the ABA. Golden Gate was my safety school... imagine what torture I would be going through had I not be accepted anywhere else? All in all, I am flattered they offered me a scholarship!

i was a too idealistic (let's say unrealistic, rather) in the application process. it really is a numbers game.

currently reading "law school confidential" to get an idea of what to expect in my first year.

hoping to get off Southwestern's waitlist. Otherwise i'll be attending California Western.

wish me luck!

Good luck with your apps and getting off those wait lists. I was WL at Cal Western too and our numbers are pretty similar (your LSAT's higher). Hope things work out for you!

First Choice

I'm not sure about my first choice anymore. I'm not super excited about GGU, but I'd rather be in San Francisco than Springfield, MA (hence the withdraw from WNELS). I'm just hoping one more school lets me in!

Congrats!

I saw you go into cal western! Congratulations! Are you still considering them? Are you going to the admitted students day on May 19th?

Unrealistic - me too!

I was really unrealistic too. I thought GPA and extras would count more than they do. Congrats on being admitted into Cal Western. I'm hoping to get off of Southwestern's wait list too, but not holding my breath, I don't want to turn blue! Most likely I'll be in Chicago at JMSL. Good Luck.
