4/15/2020: I have placed my first seat deposit at Hofstra University but have accepted a position on the St. Johns School of Law wait list.

5/15/2020: For the Spring 2020 semester I received a 3.8 semester GPA raising my overall GPA to 3.058. I will be submitting my transcript to Hofstra and St. Johns with my updated GPA and final semester grades after my diploma is conferred.

6/22/2020: This is just a general update in case anyone is interested. Since my last update I have been accepted into and joined the Phi Alpha Theta History Honors Society at my university, graduated from my undergraduate university, sent my FASFA to both Hofstra and St. Johns Law (I am still on the waitlist at St. Johns Law,) and I have applied to two fellowships at Hofstra. One of the fellowships being the Freedman Social Justice Fellowship and the other being Hofstras LGBT+ Fellows Program.

NYLS Scholarship Answer

I've gotten a couple other messages about my NYLS scholarship. In the email I received with my acceptance it said: This scholarship award is renewable at the same amount for each year of study, as long as you maintain a cumulative grade point average in the top half of the class or a 3.0 or better each academic year.

Your undergrad GPA was a 3.6 and it dropped to a 2.9, the LSAC is low key scary, do they look at both GPA?

Hi, how did CUNY LAW notify that you were rejected? Email or mail delivered to you?

GPA Question Response To @pickle_toes

My undergrad major GPA is a 3.6 my overall GPA is a 2.9 (as of the end of the Fall 2019 semester.) The reason my GPA was so low was due to many different factors but primarily because my grades in my first year of courses were extremely low as I was on a pre-med track and lets just say science isnt my cup of tea. Based on my application results I would say they consider the trend in your grades more important than the overall GPA. For example after my first year in college my semesterly GPA increased significantly and consistently and I think since I pointed out this trend in a GPA Addendum that I attached with my application that helped my chances. If youre worried about your GPA depending on how high or low it is I would say your best bet would be to include a GPA Addendum and stress the circumstances resulting in your GPA. Best of Luck!

Hi, congrats! How long did it take Hofstra to re-evaluate your scholarship?

Hofstra Law Response to @MRWiththeJD

Hi! Thanks for the congrats. I emailed my request for a scholarship reevaluation to a representative on 3/20/2020. In this email I included all of my recent accomplishments since submitting my application in January as well as the offers I received from Albany Law School and New York Law School. On 3/21/2020 the representative emailed me back saying he had forwarded my request to the scholarship reevaluation council and 10 days later on 3/31/2020 I received an email indicating my scholarship to Hofstra was increased. Hope this helped!
