12/22/08: Just heard back from BU (via email). They said that due to the volume of applicants they wouldn't be able to give me their decision until mid January, instead of late December as they had informed me
01/08/09: University of Chicago's application status checker says "Decision Pending" I'm now anxiously awaiting to see
if I am accepted, even though I know it's a long shot
01/12/09: University of Chicago mailed their decision without a phone call :-( -- This is most likely a rejection (I should have it in 10 days)
01/14/09: Northwestern rejection--Now I know for certain that University of Chicago is a rejection
01/15/09: Rejected at BC, I get the feeling that Boston University will follow suit, which sucks because BU is my dream school.
01/16/09: Called BU to see is I should be running to my mail box everytime I get home from work--My file is still being reviewed the woman said it would be 2 - 3 more weeks before a decision was reached. She also said that if I wanted to add additional information to my application that she would mark it in my file and hold my application until it was recieved--I said that I'd be more than happy to do that.
I'm also going to ask a co-worker whose an alum if she would be willing to put in a good word for me.
- she said she'd be more than happy to--it will be sent out either Monday or Tuesday and she'll call the Dean personally to let the school know that she's written on my behalf (this request feel into place a lot nicer and easier than the Harvard one)
**come on BU I've dreaming of walking through your doors since I was a freshman**
-came home today to find a rejection letter from Chicago
01/17/09: Overnighted my updated resume, along with a letter reaffirming my interest in BU to the director of admissions--it should arrive on Monday or Tuesday
01/19/09: My alum contact with BU was wonderful enough to work on drafting her reccommendation over the weekend so that it could be sent out first thing this morning. She's going to call the director of admissions tomorrow letting her know that she's sent a letter on my behalf.
- Now I've done everything humanly and legally possible--now I sit and wait.
01/20/09: my BU alum contact said the woman she spoke to in admissions would place a note in my file and hold my application until her leter was recieved
01/22/09: heard back from University at Buffalo--waitlisted
01/23/09: Rejected at BU via a small white envelope, letter dated January 16th. Both the alumni and myself were a little perplexed by the date of the letter given the chain of events that occured. I'll be calling them on Monday to make sure there wasn't a mistake because of what my alum contact and myself were told.
01/26/09: called BU to discuss the situation, but thier offices are closed today and tomorrow, so I'll be calling back on Wednesday.
Hopefully they'll at least appologize for the mix up and offer to re-examine my application in light of the alum letter **who knows maybe it will change their decision.**
01/28/09: sent an email to BU explaining the situation that had occured with my application along with a request to have my application re-evaluated in its complete and entire form. I then called BU at 9:01 AM to discuss the situation with my application the woman I spoke to initially put me on hold for 5 minutes and then said the director would have to call me back.
- The Associate Director called me me back 5 minutes later and appologized for the mix up, saying that if I wanted to send an email explaining the situation and asked for my application to be resubmitted for review that she would be more than happy to do so. I told he that I had done so before I called the office. She thanked me for my thoroughness and said she'd add the email to my file along with the additional material (updated resume and letter reaffirming my interest in BU) that I had sent on the 17th. However she said that they were still waiting to recieve the alum's letter; but once that was recieved she would be more than happy to resubmit my application to the committee for reivew.
**We're re-mailing the letter of rec today, just on the off chance that it was lost or misplaced somewhere along the way.**
02/05/09: Gave BU a call to make sure the letter arrived--spoke with the Associate Director she said both copies of the alum's letter arrived safely and my application is with the committee
**crossing my fingers**
03/05/09: Email from Gail Ellis, Dean of Admissions at Suffolk, stating that I've recieved a Full Tuition David J. Sargent Scholarship :-D (Called BU and they said that "something" was sent to me and that I should be receiving it shortly)
I was just wondering if you were waitlisted at Pitt or put on hold? I'm surprised you were put on either!
