Extra Curricular Information

Naval Spec Ops Officer (EOD, bomb squad, that sort of thing). Been active duty since 1998. Paticipated in Operations Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom. All those roadside bombs you didn't hear about on the news... you didn't hear about 'em because my guys got to 'em first.
Fair bit of volunteering (mentoring, community stuff, legal research) in my free time (and there's not much of that these days).
Member of local chorus.
Stuff from undergrad - a lot. Not sure that any of it really matters. It was a while ago. If you have specific questions about my life in the mid-90's feel free to ask.

Additional info & updates

Most "complete" dates are from email notification. However, some are from LSAC (when the school requested my file). The January dates are a result of many schools holding my application due to the December LSAT. Yeah, had I known that I wouldn't have taken it... and, as it turns out, I shouldn't have taken it! Oh well.

UMKC - "accepted" date is the date on the letter.
Wash U - "deferred" date is the date on the letter.
UFL - "rejected" date is the date on the letter.
UNC - "rejected" date is the date on the letter.
Columbia - "rejected" date is the date on the letter (expected this one back in December, actually!).
GSU - "accepted" date is the date on the letter.
UW - "rejected" date is the date on the letter.
Seattle - "accepted" date is the date on the letter.
Colorado - "rejected" date is the date I talked to them on the phone.
UB - "accepted" date is the date I rcvd the email (real letter came a few days later).
LSU - "accepted" date is the date I rcvd an email inviting me to the open house for admitted students (I rcvd a "follow-up" letter dated 22FEB, so I guess the original was lost in the mail).
FSU - "accepted" date is the date I rcvd an email inviting me to the admitted students day (got a phone call the next day confirming the offer of admission).
Wash U - "withdrawn" date is the day I sent them an email.
Ole Miss - "withdrawn" date is the day I sent them an email.

I'll be going to GSU... and I've know that since the first week in March. I should have withdrawn from those last two schol sooner. Sorry. And in the spirit of full disclosure I've withdrawn from FSU, LSU, Seattle, UB, and UMKC, too.

Yes, but I've requested release from active duty effective July. I'm a LT in the Navy.

Thanks!

And, yes... status changed on a Wednesday (I think) and I the letter arrived on a Saturday. Seattle's website switched to "decision mailed" the other day, too. Might be something waiting for me when I get home tonight!

Congrats

Congrats on your acceptances, condolences on your rejections from a fellow servicemember. Sorry to see that your service didn't garner a few extra admits. Best of luck to you.

Called to ask if they'd be willing to add something to my file, she said maybe, checked, and returned to the phone to say a decision had already been made, so adding something to the file at this point wouldn't do much good. I asked if she could tell me that decision, and, in her own way, she did.

Thanks, Heelacious. I'm starting to think the service is the only thing that got me the acceptances I actually have! It certainly wasn't my grades!

Congrats to you, too. I'm going to HDS at Redstone in 2 weeks, so I'll be able to handle any state-side roadside bombs. Hopefully I won't get called out of class too much for EOD callouts.

What are your thoughts on going to school at LSU and learning Civil Law over common law which is practiced throughout the states?
