Additional info & updates

8/31/2011
Beginning my journey to law school for the 2012-2013 academic school year. God willing, everything will work out great!

9/27/2011
Personal Statement is almost complete...so far everything sounds good.

10/14/2011
Attended NYC Law School Forum and uncovered interestting information. Wish I knew some of this last cycle.

10/27/2011
CUNY Law finally released their app...working on new personal statement; previous one sounded off.

11/9/2011
Personal statement is almost complete.

11/30/2011
Personal statement is in its editing phase. Hopefully, it will be complete by the weekend.

1/1/2012
Happy New Year!
Applications have been submitted and are ready for evaluation. The agonizing waiting begins:-(

1/3/2012
New York Law: Complete and sent to committee; invited to complete an online interview
St. Johns: Complete
Cardozo: Received
Howard: Received

1/6/2012:
Howard: Complete and under review
CUNY: Received and being processed

1/19/2012:
All of my applications are either under review or ready to be reviewed except for Cardozo; that one is incomplete due to a missing form

1/28/2012
Received a decision email on 1/26/2012 from Howard indicating there was not a favorable response to my application....4 more to go.

2/9/2012
Cardozo is finally complete.
This waiting is killing me but in the meantime, I am praying for acceptances.

2/17/2012
Still waiting to here back from these schools. Noticed on my status checker that NYLS made an update on 2/13/2012. Does this mean I should hear something soon??? I guess time will tell. Also decided to add two more schools. Maybe more will be added before the month ends...sigh.

2/24/2012
Applied to two more schools today, Brooklyn and Hofstra Law. More waiting to come.

3/1/2012
Checked the status checkers today and learned that St. John's gave my app the boot. Oh well, five more to go.

3/14/2012
Brooklyn Law: In Review
Cardozo Law: Complete and Under Review
CUNY Law: Ready for Review
Hofstra Law: Pending Review by Committee
NYLS: Sent to Committee
-Patiently awaiting a decision from one of these institutions

3/23/2012
Received an email from NYLS inviting to join their waitlist. While this is not a full blown acceptance, it is much better than a rejection.
- Four more pending; paitiently awaiting an acceptance.

3/28/2012
Received a rejection email from Cardozo Law.
-Three more pending
Accepted waitlist invitation from NYLS

4/04/12
Called CUNY to get an update on my app, it has been ready for review since 1/09, and was told in a few days it would get bumped to 'In Review'. The process for 'In Review' would take an additional six weeks.
- Patience is a virtue I need to acquire.

04/05/2012
CUNY Law apps is finally in review...sign. Hopefully I get a response worth this really long wait!

04/11/2012
Hofstra Law file is with the committee. Hopefully I get an actual decision this time. Being wait-listed again would be unfortunate.

04/16/2012
Rejected from CUNY via status checker...I feel so wanted

04/19/2012
Received good and bad news today...
-Good: In May, I will be invited to interview with NYLS
-Bad: Hofstra rejected me.
Now, its up to Brooklyn

05/02/2012
It is May and I am still in limbo. This is complete and utter toture!

5/22/2012
I am still patiently awaiting a decision from Brooklyn Law School. I honestly believe they find keeping applicants in limbo amusing. My app has been in review for 2 months now.
Last week I learned that the email indicating I would receive an email to interview with NYLS was a hoax. It turns out the "person" who sent the email really did not send it. When I asked who did, no one could respond.
- This process is unnecessary stress. It should not take four months to render a decision on an application.

5/24/2012
I received my rejection email from Brooklyn Law today...

Are you not interested in the other schools in New York, like Hofstra? Wishing you the best!! Apply NOW to Howard, I go there and they already reached 1000 applications for the month!

What about....

Pace Law School? CUNY is a great school (esp. if you're looking to Public Interest). They may offer you a conditional acceptance via the Pipeline Program as well...Good luck to you. Stay encouraged.

hopefully that URM bumps you into some good schools! I believe you have to write a public interest personal statement, otherwise CUNY won't look at you no matter the score. And Apply to Hofstra, maybe they will admit you instead of me >:O

what was the interesting information that you unconvered at the NYC law school forum?

Sunday, December 11 2011 at 07:00 PM

Did you attend Howard undergrad?

Hey! I think the NYLS status change means it's taking them longer than they thought it would to evaluate your app... Mine actually said "Congrats! Accepted with Merit Scholarship!" on the status checker itself. Have you considered applying to Pace and/or Touro? I figure you're interested in schools in the greater NYC area, they might be viable options. Idk about Pace but Touro's deadline hasn't passed yet. I actually went to see it when I first got accepted and I was pleasantly surprised by what I saw. Just an idea. Regardless, good luck with the rest of your cycle!

Hey! I'm sorry about Brooklyn... Did you send a LOCI to NYLS? Also, did you do the video interview? You might want to look into those things since it'll show them you're genuinely interested.
