Additional info & updates

Northwestern:
- 11/7: requested interview when I sent application.
- 11/10: interviewer assigned
- 11/18: interview. I think it went pretty well.
- as of 12/3, application still says incomplete because of interview. I emailed the Office of Admissions; waiting to hear back.
- 12/6: had to call in order for someone to check the status of my application. It showed Complete on Status Checker not long after call. YAY!
- 2/13: denied. definitely not surprised. would have been nice!

Vanderbilt:
- 11/8: signed up for VLS Schedule Today, submitted resume.
- 11/19: I happened to randomly check Schedule Today to see that I was matched. There was no email for this, which was concerning.
- 11/28: interview. I think it went pretty well.

UC Berkeley:
- 12/3: notified that I didn't get in via ED. I figured this would happen, but I had to try anyway.
- denied 2/22. major bummer.

McGeorge:
- 11/20: received two separate emails regarding specifics of my application. Hopefully it means they like me!
- 1/2: first admission! what a relief. randomly checked status checker. admit packet came about a week later (give or take a day); no money.
- visited 4/23, had a great visit. everyone is really nice!

UC Irvine:
- 12/11: first decision! but its a rejection, via status checker. bummer, but their loss.

Oregon:
- rejection via email, status checker confirmed.

UC Davis:
- rejection via status checker, letter via mail to confirm a few days later.

UC Hastings:
- waitlisted 2/6, a nice surprise considering how the rest of my cycle had been going.
- visited 2/22, had a really great visit (which helped soften the blow of getting rejected from berkeley on the BART ride back)
- submitted LOCI on 3/24. it was a pretty good letter if I do say so myself.
- accepted from waitlist on 4/23 (CYCLE OVER YAY!)

Loyola LA:
- visited 2/28, really liked what they had in terms of programs etc.
- rejected. hurts a bit because I could see myself there!

Southwestern:
- admitted via email with scholarship.

*Retaking and reapplying next cycle was not much of an option, so any acceptance and scholarship considering my stats, I am very grateful for. Ecstatic to be headed to UCH this fall!*

Hi! Congratulations on all your submits! Fingers crossed on good news :) I did want to ask about something I found interesting on your profile: why is there such a difference b/w your Degree GPA and your LSDAS GPA? And do you think it makes a difference?

Tuesday, December 04 2018 at 03:57 PM

Sorry readyfortheworld, I didnt see this until right now. Guess I hadnt been checking my own profile that much! I put my LSDAS as what LSAC calculated (I had failed out of one quarter at community college, explained within my application) and my degree GPA as my GPA from my degree-granting institution. What I hope it shows is that my potential is not what LSAC calculated, and Im on an upward trend. Ive heard things like that can make a difference, but I dont know yet for myself. I really hope schools dont just toss my 2.93 in the trash.

Congrats on getting into University of the Pacific. I think that might be a good option for you. Doubt you get off waitlist at Hastings

Congrats on getting on your admission to Southwestern with $$! I applied just recently in Feb. and haven't heard back, yet. If you don't mind me asking, did you have to negotiate with them or did they offer you scholarship with admission?
