(What can I say? Schools must be interested in meeting a real Alaskan or something.)

01/24/06 - Received email from SLU that notified me of my acceptance, alluded to a scholarship award that will be detailed in my admissions packet, and invited me to participate in the 1843 Scholarship (Full-Tuition) Essay Competition.

02/07/06 - Finally received acceptance package from SLU, which included a $45k Dean's scholarship. Here's hoping that they like my 1843 essay!

02/09/06 - Submitted my essay for the 1843 Scholars competition. Cross your fingers, everyone - I'll know if I'm a semi-finalist by the week after next!

02/14/06 - In an interesting turn of events, SLU sent me a solicitation to apply complete with fee waiver as well as another nomination for the 1843 Scholars competition. Hmmmm...

02/24/06 - Received a call from admissions letting me know that I have been selected as a finalist in the 1843 competition! Finalist weekend is to be held at SLU March 24-26.

Congrats and good luck! Is SLU #1 for you?

Thanks!

Yep - SLU's my one and only choice. My fiancee just finished the last year of residency and took a job offer in STL that's far too good to pass up. Which is fine in my view, since everything I've heard about SLU is gleaming. I'm VERY excited.

I thought I sent you an e-mail, but never heard back. In answer to your question, I am a UAA grad (04). So it is off the SLU for you? I thought about applying there, but wanted to avoid more rejection!
