Additional info & updates

4/9/09 -- Pulled off the WL at SHU!! The letter came just in time, as I was going to deposit at NYLS on 4/13 -- thank god for extensions! I have until May 1st now to get those last three letters.

4/11/09 -- Tiny envelope from UC-Irvine. Not a surprise, but a little sad not to be a part of the first class. Two more to go...

4/16/09 - Received email from RU-Newark that they're inundated with applications to still go over and won't have decisions out until end of April! I thought applying in November meant that this wouldn't happen!

4/17/09 -- Called Loyola to check on application, it's in the end stage of Committee review. Will hopefully receive decision by email so I don't have to spend time waiting for it to be sent across the country.

I also emailed Rutgers asking if there was any way to get a decision as soon as possible considering I have to deposit at SHU by May 1st and send out the check no later than the 29th. I did name-drop SHU in the email, hoping that might get me something.

4/22/09 -- Still waiting on both Loyola and Rutgers. Not sure if I have enough pull with Seton Hall to request an extension on the deposit. Loyola still hasn't written back about my request to have my decision emailed; that makes me really nervous, and also a little bit angry.

4/23/09 -- Got wait listed via email by Rutgers. The subject line was "Wait list - Rutgers -- 2009" so I wasn't too surprised about what the content of the email was. I won't even bother putting myself on the wait list -- SHU is ranked higher and is a much better school. I just find myself really angry that it took them so long to review my file even though it was ready for the Committee at Thanksgiving, and what they sent out to me today is pretty much a non-decision.

4/24/09 -- Called Loyola, again, and asked about the decision. I was again told that it was in the final stage of review, and I could expect something in the next 7-10 days. I indicated that wouldn't really work since I have to send SHU lots of money next week, and they said they'd try to expedite it and email the decision and if I don't hear by Wednesday to give them a call. It's nice that they finally seem to be understanding that I'm running out of time and how much I want to go there, but why did it take so long?

4/29/09 -- Finally got someone at Loyola to give me my decision over the phone, though it wasn't what I was hoping to hear. He said that my decision would be mailed out this week but that I was not accepted. Part of me is hoping that that means there is a chance I was wait listed...

4/30/09 -- Faxed in my deposit to Seton Hall and removed myself from the wait lists at Penn State, Temple, and Rutgers. I'll keep myself on Southwestern's in the hope that I'll get pulled off and move to California. Turning down SHU for Southwestern seems a little bit odd to some given SHU's ranking, but I'd much prefer to practice in California, which may be a little difficult graduating from a school on the east coast.

5/2/09 -- Flat out rejected from Loyola. That stung a little bit.

hey... I called Loyola like two weeks ago inquiring about the status of my application and all they said was the generic, it's complete and will be reviewed. You should receive a decision letter in 2/3 weeks. Of course, it's all BS. They'll tell us when they tell us. ;( From what I can take. We've been put on the hold list and they're waiting for the first seat deposits to come through. (April 30th). If they have enough deposits from our respective demographics and number pool we'll probably get a reject. If they don't have enough we'll probably be waitlisted or maybe (I hope) accepted--but sadly I don't think this is very likely. I think waitlist at best. ;( I'm sorry if it sounds like i'm the barrer bad news. I'm just really upset about this whole situation. I love Santa Clara and plan to attend but I decided I want to stay closer to home and none of the soCal schools have contacted me. It's heartwrenching. :( Good luck with the admissions. I think they best you can do is just make your deposit. If Loyola comes in then you can withdraw from the respective school and deposit at Loyola. I know it can be a lot of money but in the whole scheme of things I think it would be worth it. Good luck.

I'm sorry to hear that. I got my Waitlist today. I plan to withdraw from the waitlist, after much consideration and talking to people who attend the school and devouring their new rules and stuff, it's not really for me. Also, I drove down to the area on Monday evening for an SCU Admitted Students/Alumni reception in Century City and LLS is definitely in the ghetto. I'm a suburban brat, I just can't... nope not for me. :) Good luck with everything. Keep me updated with the rest of your waitlist. still crossing my fingers for Pepperdine.
