Additional info & updates

07/06:
I officially decided that I will be going to University of San Diego for law school. I haven't heard back from Pepperdine but when I really sat down and broke it all down once again (after taking some time off from thinking about anything law school related) San Diego is the clear first choice. It fits me perfectly. The campus and location is also remarkable.

That's it for me. I'm moving to San Diego. I have a new condo and looking for a roomie. yay!

Here's the USD Law School Facebook Group. JOIN IT!

http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=16737238&ref=profile#/group.php?gid=182059950593

05/21:
It's been tough but I think that I've decided that I will go to Pepperdine if accepted!

But, I'm putting a timeline on them. July 20th. Also, my parents are looking to buy me a condo/house. If they find something that we all like and sign the papers, then I'll stick with USD.

***************************************************

05/15:
I got into San Diego off the waitlist. I'm very excited, I really like SD. The more I read and research about the school the more I remember why I initially loved them so much. I'm still fighting for Pepperdine and that is still my top choice. But SD is fantastic. Yay!

05/12:
OMFG!!!!! I don't know what's going on, but it's a little exciting and I hope it's good news. On my San Diego status checker it changed AGAIN to Decision Rendered! Does this mean that I got in off the Waitlist?

I doubt they would reject me before the second deposit. OMG... OMG...OMG! This is crazy. I'm dying! I want to call and ask. OMG...

05/01: I went on a campus tour of San Diego today and absolutely LOVED it. I felt it, I loved the campus (more so than Pepperdine). I love San Diego, it's more similar to my hometown. I really don't know where I want to go anymore... Pepperdine or San Diego. There are lots of pros and cons to each and I'm just confused. I also love SCU and I know I'll be happy at any of the schools. But I prefer to go to Pepperdine or San Diego. I really don't know which one I prefer. We'll just have to wait and see. I have to do some pros/cons and analysis on this.

Still... wish me luck on my two waitlisted schools. :) hearts.

04/27: I attended the SCU Alumni/Admitted Students Reception in LA tonight and it was fantastic. I had a great time and the alumni were so helpful and knowledgeable. Dean Polden and several other assistant deans/directors were in attendance and it was great talking to them one on one. Lots of fantastic advice and it was just great. I'm really excited for Santa Clara this fall.

I also decided that Loyola is out of the picture, it's not for me. Pepperdine is still my first choice.

04/25: As expected, waitlisted at San Diego...

04/23: DAMNIT!!!! Sorry for the foul language. My San Diego status just changed to "Notice Sent" and my information cleared from the status. I REALLY didn't want this to happen because now I'm pretty sure it's a waitlist or reject. If they had waited until after the seat deposit to send a notice, I'd have a chance. If they're sending it before, I'm sure it's bad news because my numbers are lower and they just went up in the rankings.

BOOOOOO! This is so wrong in so many ways. Okay, I deserve it. I should've studied for the LSAT's and done better in school. But seriously... this... :( tear.

04/20: 2010 RANKINGS!

Big yikes... I'm not a big ranking whore or anything but i do take into account the ups and downs of a school. It's a little sad and interesting. It looks like San Diego returned to their former spot and is ranked 61 and Loyola dropped to 71 and Santa Clara dropped to 85! Pepperdine went up to 55. Pacific dropped out of the rankings.

It's concerning for me that Loyola seems to be stumbling for the past 2/3 years. They still have a great reputation in L.A but are they losing this reputation? San Diego moving back up is interesting. IF they come in... should I take another look at them? I do love the SD market. It's also concerning that Santa Clara dropped a good 10 spots That's a big fall. I wonder if something is going on with their program. Pacific... dropped out of the rankings. no surprise there.

It's a lot to consider in the whole scheme of things.

Props to OperaSoprano for getting the rankings.

04/16: PEPPERDINE UPDATE... I've been in contact with a student that currently works in the Admissions office. From the sounds of it, it is very unlikely that Pepperdine will pull from their waitlist this year. This is based on the high volume of seat deposits received for the first round. The second round isn't until July 1st but statistically, they're in excellent shape. I am sad about this, but that's okay, I'm excited for Santa Clara (I've found amazing housing with 3 current 2/3L's yay). I'm still going to fight hard for Pepperdine but realistically, I'm not going to get my hopes up. Such is life. :)

04/03: SAD NEWS...or just for a Pepperdine waitlister like myself.
It looks like Pepperdine had its largest ASD event with 150 students attending. If this cycle shows the amount of students who are seriously looking at attending the school, it doesn't bold too well for me. Last year they didn't pull anyone from the waitlist and it looks like the cycle will continue with none or very little from the waitlist. Bummer...

03/31: WORDS OF ADVICE

Hope y'all are having a good cycle thus far and keeping the hope alive. I'm finishing out my cycle and slowly withdrawing from all schools and waitlists as they come in. I'm really excited for Santa Clara and have meet some amazing people on facebook and potential roommates, etc. I've spoken to many professors and student organizational leaders and adore them

Advice: USE FACEBOOK! It's a Godsend. Just about every law school has a group for Class of 2012 students, so use it, it's amazing. Or just make your own group, if there isn't one already. Why not meet other students like yourselves, right? Get to know people, potential roommates, yada yada yada. Technology is great, it's the future, use it!

Right now the plan is Santa Clara University and still fighting to get off the waitlist for Pepperdine (won't hear anything until mid-July). Every other school is out of the question, will complete the cycle for potential students to have another set of data.

CYCLE FINISHED (SORTA) (will update accordingly and hopefully mid-July Pepperdine will come through for me). Please keep me updated on your cycles and what school you're leaning towards, it's so exciting, we're down to the wire and we're going to law school in just a few months! Please pray, cross your fingers, hope that Pepperdine is kind to me and uses their waitlist (more particularly... picks me... Go Team! haha).

That's all I have... good luck... It's all about CLASS OF 2012 baby!

Hearts....me

03/23: WITHDRAWING: I am withdrawing from Pacific (and Seattle). Santa Clara gave me a verbal that they would match my scholarships so I'm happy.

Still fighting for Pepperdine!

03/17: I went to visit Pepperdine Law and I was very impressed and really liked it. I'm going to stay on the waitlist and really fight for it. This is the place I want to go to. Pacific is negotiating a higher scholarship for me... we'll see what happens.... but the more I think about it... I really really want to attend Pepperdine Law. I love SCU and I can see myself there and thriving but Pepperdine just feels so right.

03/15:
Anyways this weekend I went to Pacific Legal Scholar Day and Santa Clara ASD. Message me if you want to know details.Overall, it was a very good trip. I have now narrowed down my field completely to SCU and Pepperdine. I'm visiting P on Wednesday and will decide how hard to fight for them based on the trip . I'm very happy with SCU and their IP/International program and faculty.

03/10: I sent a LOCI to Washington and Lee. Why not fight it out? I won't get in but I'll still try. I also sent a LOCI of sorts to San Diego to remind them that I"m very interested and to update my file and also to show my extreme interest in their new IP Law Center. I hate this waiting game... the last set of schools are starting to annoy me hardcore.

03/06: PLEASANT SURPRISE: I was pleasantly surprised by a waitlist from Washington and Lee. I had thought them to be an auto-reject. I know the chances of me getting of the waitlist is not so high but it's just a nice feel good thing to have. I'm not completely pathetic, application wise.

Anyways: I decided to use the reimbursement money for Pacific Legal Scholars day to visit them on March 13th and drive down to Santa Clara on the 14th. I was able to pursuade my professor to let me take the final exam on an earlier date. Off to two Admitted Students Day events. I'm fairly excited. I'm ready for my cycle to be over though, I'm sick of this waiting game.

Good luck to everyone. Hope you have a good day.

03/02: CYCLE OVER (SORT OF) It looks like my cycle is basically over. The rest of the schools I'm waiting for are most likely rejections or I don't plan on attending. I'm still waiting for Loyola and San Diego and those are targets. Crossing my fingers and hoping for the best from them. Going up to visit Santa Clara for the ASD on March 14th.

FRIDAY THE 13TH: Talk about bad luck or sad day. I was waitlisted at Pepperdine. I'm bummed because I highly doubt they will be digging into their waitlist category. I really liked Pepperdine. Actually I'm really bummed... I also was waitlisted at Cardozo.. (small envelops). I haven't decided if I want to accept it or not. Realistically I'm not a New York type of gal, so I don't know. We'll see.

Yup. Sad Day for me. For the past month that was my favorite target school. :( Now I guess I have to find a new favorite...

02/5: FREAKING OUT...I'm starting to freak out about my admissions process. It's killing me. I've been complete forever now and still not getting any word from any schools, especially in my target. This is crazy. I know most of the schools haven't started rejecting people yet, because of this I'm scared that my application is sitting somewhere in the stupid reject pile.

I'm also dying to get accepted to Pepperdine. Lately, I've felt this huge connection with Pepperdine University and they're my realistic top choice. I'd kill for an acceptance there...!!!! OH, I hate waiting, I really am not as patient as I thought. ;(

01/31: SAD DAY...Today was a sad day. I haven't heard from any school in forever and in one day I got two small envelopes (rejections). Hastings and UCLA. These schools, I figured I would get the R but still, I'm getting anxious and lacking in patience. Sad Day. Oh and decided to apply to Houston for personal reasons. Surprised to find that I had a fee waiver for them already. Hidden fee waivers are crazy. lol.

01/7: HAPPY NEW YEARS, FIRST ACCEPTANCES... everyone. I have been out of the country for the past like three weeks and thus the lack of updates. While away I received e-mail from my parents that informed me that I was accepted to SCU and Pacific with scholarship. I was pretty happy to officially know that I was going to law school. Both big envelops.

12/8: First response. Rejection from Notre Dame in small envelop of course. Expected the rejection but still sorta stinks. ;(

12/2: I forgot. I also applied to UC Irvine, the new school. I applied in late October and was complete in mid November.

11/27: Happy Thanksgiving Everyone.

11/10: All my applications are in. There are a few fee waivers trickling in but I don't think I want to apply anywhere else. Now I"m just waiting for completes and ya's or nah's. Wish me luck. I actually and honestly love all the schools I'm applying to and find something great with each of them. I sent apps to schools I know for sure I won't get into but I needed to do this for peace of mind.

10/06: October LSAT

9/25: Diversity Statement, Personal Statement, and WHY X Law School essays finished.

8/30: all transcripts and LOR sent in.

It looks like we are applying to a few of the same schools. Good luck with your cycle and good luck on your upcoming LSAT. Proctors can be a pain, but try to keep calm and don't panic.

Sunday, July 27 2008 at 08:00 PM

Hey. Looks like we have relatively similar numbers. Also, it's nice to see a fellow PAD on here. I think you're the first person I've seen list that on. Best of luck!

Wednesday, August 27 2008 at 08:00 PM

Yeah I had quite a few fee waivers, but also spent quite a bit to apply a lot of places. Hopefully it pays off. We are applying to a lot of the same schools though. Good luck to you too :)

Sunday, July 27 2008 at 08:00 PM

you'll get in to more than one school. Based on your list, I'm callin' USD, Santa Clara and Pacific for for sure admissions :) there are probably other for sure ones but i don't know the other schools that well, the ones out of CA.

Thursday, September 11 2008 at 08:00 PM

Nice to hear from your LoveLaugh. We have a scary amount of similarities application-wise. I am also graduating a year early from college, but don't consider it a detriment but instead a money saver! Otherwise, I am also looking to stay in CA (preferably the Bay/Sac area). Too much going on here with my family, etc. Feel free to put it on the record, but you are going to be fine admission wise. The T2s such as Loyola, Pepperdine, Pacific, Seattle, Santa Clara, etc- you have as good a shot as anyone.

Sunday, July 27 2008 at 08:00 PM

you might want to consider applying to Davis if you haven't. I think for a CA T1, you have a pretty good chance at that school. are you lookin' for a CA school?

Sunday, July 27 2008 at 08:00 PM

ah okay. yeah location is very important to success in law school. Univ of Hawai'i sent me stuff a few times but i hear that the waves get in the way of class :) i'm the same, if I could, I would definitely stay in SoCal, but I don't want to be in USD, Loyola or USC so that leaves UCLA haha. Man, if UCLA decides to take me in, I'd withdraw from every school. I'd go to UCLA full price for Pacific full scholarship :/

Sunday, June 29 2008 at 08:00 PM

Thanks! Good luck to you as well. I'm sure with your softs you'll get into some great schools. I'll be keeping an eye on your page. It's driving me crazy not knowing anything yet.

Saturday, June 07 2008 at 08:00 PM

Congrats on the LSAT score. Great improvement. Good luck on your cycle!

Thanks!
Thursday, July 31 2008 at 08:00 PM

Thanks for the well wishes. I sure hope you're right! Good luck on your cycle as well!

Thanks!
Sunday, June 29 2008 at 08:00 PM

The first one feels really good. Hopefully you'll be getting some soon. It makes it a lot easier to focus on everything else knowing you're in somewhere.

Good Luck
Thursday, November 13 2008 at 07:00 PM

I was bummed about ND, but pretty exited about UVA. I couldn't believe I even stood a chance, even after they offered me a fee waiver I figured my application would just be used to stunt their acceptance stats. But I guess anything is possible - or so I'd hope. Anyways. I think Fordham rejected me... according to their online status checker, although I've not received anything from them. So once again, I guess anything is possible, which is why I applied EVERYWHERE. Good luck in the cycle, your experience should help you for sure.

hey
Wednesday, January 09 2008 at 07:00 PM

looks like we are applying to a lot of the same schools and sent in our apps around the same time...good luck this cycle!

thanks!
Sunday, October 19 2008 at 08:00 PM

Thank you! Hopefully your acceptances will start rolling in! I didn't expect an acceptance at ND so maybe you'll be surprised with an acceptance too! Good luck!

Wednesday, August 27 2008 at 08:00 PM

Yeah thats one of the reasons I havnet applied there yet. Plus I went to two colleges, and it would take forever to get the other cert. Hopueflly we hear back soon, waiting sucks

uva waitlist
Sunday, October 05 2008 at 08:00 PM

nope. i'm a white female. i have had a really good research job for an international business law professor. i've worked for her for 3 years. so i'm assuming she wrote me a great letter. one of my other letters was from the VP of a large hospital that i interned at this past summer. i also placed in the top 3 in an international business law paper competition. so basically, i'm assuming my softs got me waitlisted. either way, i'm excited. thanks! good luck to you this cycle. once you get your first acceptance it takes a ton of the weight off. you'll do great!

LOL
Saturday, October 04 2008 at 08:00 PM

You will no doubt get into some great schools. Good luck and don't forget to love, laugh, and live!

Sunday, July 06 2008 at 08:00 PM

Thanks good luck to you too! I'm waiting for my December results to come back before I start applying... so it remains to be seen how many of the same ones we'll apply to lol... Good luck to you!!

Notre Dame
Sunday, June 29 2008 at 08:00 PM

Sorry about the ND rejection. I was denied there as well. Hopefully we'll both be getting good news from some CA schools soon to make up for it though.

Wednesday, August 27 2008 at 08:00 PM

yeah its surprised me a bit as well, but oh well. congrats on yours as well :)

congrats
Tuesday, September 30 2008 at 08:00 PM

congrats on the acceptances so far! good luck on the rest of your apps this cycle.

Sunday, July 27 2008 at 08:00 PM

Thanks a lot and congrats on UOP and SC so far. I'm still waiting on UCLA (crossing my fingers and such) even though I'm sure all that awaits me is a thin white envelope :(

Congrats
Sunday, June 29 2008 at 08:00 PM

On your two acceptances! I'm sure there will be more

Tuesday, October 28 2008 at 08:00 PM

Good luck to you too. I am actually interested to see what kind of turn out UC-Irvine gets. Might not be my first choice but def an interesting opportunity.

Good luck
Wednesday, October 01 2008 at 08:00 PM

Good luck on your cycle as well. You mentioned that you're not a big city person, so why not apply to Davis? You have competitive numbers and would love the environment. :)

Loyola
Thursday, November 13 2008 at 07:00 PM

No no no no.You don't get to worry, but excitedly and happily anticipate. The good news is, both you (and now me) are going to law school next year. Your numbers look good for Loyola too. So don't sweat it, this is exciting right..... haha.

Thanks
Sunday, June 29 2008 at 08:00 PM

I'm starting to get anxious as well. I wish the California schools would get a move on. Sorry about UVA. You've still got plenty of good schools on your list though.

Congrats...
Monday, October 27 2008 at 08:00 PM

...on your acceptances so far! Curiously, is the scholarship from McGeorge per year, or over 3 years? Thank you in advance!

Sunday, July 27 2008 at 08:00 PM

I second that! I'd love to be the exception to the rule at this point. CA schools are notorious for taking their sweet time to do this. My friend applied last year and the UCs didn't send him a decision until around Feb/March.

Tuesday, October 28 2008 at 08:00 PM

Uh...yea...you just completely insulted my undergraduate school. Thanks for the input...

Wednesday, August 27 2008 at 08:00 PM

kimber1028, I couldn't get onto your page. But the Pacific scholarship is renewable each year. So the 20K is for the first year.

Thursday, October 16 2008 at 08:00 PM

Hey good luck to you too. Pepperdine sounds really cool and our LSATs are strong for them. BTW I did my undergrad at UW and the law building is amazing. I'll hold a good thought for both of us!

Pepperdine
Wednesday, October 01 2008 at 08:00 PM

I'm positive you'll get into Pepperdine and if everything works out, you can even take me out to lunch! :)

congratulations
Saturday, October 20 2007 at 08:00 PM

you've been accepted to some fine schools. i am surprised miami put you hold considering your numbers. but you've been admitted to SCU, a very fine school

Sorry
Sunday, June 29 2008 at 08:00 PM

About the rejections. Hopefully things turn around for you.

Sunday, July 27 2008 at 08:00 PM

Looks like we were in the same batch of bad news letters sent out :\

Sunday, July 27 2008 at 08:00 PM

haha I guess that's true, in a painful, masochistic kind of way. I know what you mean though, I'd rather get rejection letters early rather than wait around and get the same thing later. Congrats on Seattle, I would love to live there. Good luck with everything!

Re: CONGRATULATIONS
Sunday, June 29 2008 at 08:00 PM

Thanks! I'm very happy about that acceptance. And don't get too dispirited. There's still plenty of time for your schools to let you in. Hopefully you'll get into a couple of your top choices here soon.

I'm with you
Sunday, July 06 2008 at 08:00 PM

This waiting is the pits! I visited Pepperdine, nice place, I couldn't possibly imagine a more beautiful location to go law school. Here's to hoping you get something nice from them, and soon too!

Wednesday, October 01 2008 at 08:00 PM

Silly girl, your flirting won't work on me. Besides, both of us need to get accepted into Pepperdine if I'm ever going to collect on our lunch date. :P

thanks
Sunday, November 09 2008 at 07:00 PM

congrats to you too. it's going to be tough deciding between schools with so much geographic diversity. also, with scholarships coming in, it makes it even more complicated.

Friday, April 20 2007 at 08:00 PM

Hey thanks for nice comment. Good luck with your remaining schools. You have quite a few to hear from, so the odds are good you'll get into some!

Thursday, October 16 2008 at 08:00 PM

Thanks. The turn-around was maybe 28 days total from when I submitted. I did apply last year though so maybe that speeds up the process for someone like me. I'm sure you'll hear soon.

Tuesday, September 30 2008 at 08:00 PM

I feel your pain on playing the waiting game. :(

Tuesday, October 28 2008 at 08:00 PM

i feel your pain, waiting is making me go crazy. i'm trying to limit the number of times i check status checkers because it just feeds the craziness. here's to both of us getting into pepp!

jus a little longer...
Friday, January 16 2009 at 07:00 PM

like what all the people above already said, waiting does suck :( But i think you definitely have a good shot at pepperdine! i'm sure you'll jus have to wait a little longer for the good news to come. I'll definitely be watching ur cycle to congratulate once it happens, cuz again i'm sure it will! :D

Don't lose hope!
Friday, January 16 2009 at 07:00 PM

i'm so sorry to hear about your waitlists! Seeing how much u want to go to pepperdine, i wish it were possible to give u my spot. :( Let's jus hope that more people like me will withdraw so that u can get in! Send in a LOCI and be persistent! ...but of course, not to the point of annoying them. I'm sure there's still a great chance so don't lose hope! It's not over yet! :)

davis
Sunday, July 27 2008 at 08:00 PM

haha it's all good. like you said, it might be a little too "country" or w/e. too bad about the WLs, but that means you still have a chance! be positive :)

Friday, January 16 2009 at 07:00 PM

u might be surprised but even despite the generous offer from Baylor or an offer of acceptance from hastings, loyola would still be my top choice. but it's mainly because i'm not interested in big law and want to stay in la. For this reason, i'm reeaallly hoping for some money. I really want them to send the decision quickly to put an end to all this dreadful waiting. Keep workin on that loci and lemme know how things go!

Hey, we have similar numbers and I am hoping for the best for you! Pepperdine is my #1 as well, and I am expecting my W/L soon. WE CAN'T GIVE UP!! best of luck to you.

Thanks
Sunday, June 29 2008 at 08:00 PM

Sorry to see your cycle isn't working out quite as well as you'd hoped. You still have quite a few apps pending though, so hopefully all the good news is waiting. At this point, I think UC Davis is my top choice. However, I'm going to go visit both them and Arizona in the next few weeks to try to get a better idea on where I'd fit in and I'm also waiting to see what happens with Berkeley and USC.

Thanks!
Tuesday, October 28 2008 at 08:00 PM

And good luck for the rest of your cycle!

Wednesday, August 27 2008 at 08:00 PM

Yeah it was strange for sure, Malibu Cost of living would have been a killer though anyways. Im just sad I wasted my time on the stupid additional essay lol

Tuesday, December 02 2008 at 07:00 PM

Good luck with pepperdine!

congrats
Tuesday, December 16 2008 at 07:00 PM

congrats on the W&L waitlist today. I received the very same letter and feel much the same as you do. I also attended undergrad in the Big 12 ... why no big 12 schools? Best of luck!

Thursday, November 27 2008 at 07:00 PM

Yes! I am in Santa Clara already, at my family's new house three miles from campus. I'll be there... What about you?

Thursday, November 27 2008 at 07:00 PM

Hey, what did you think of SCU? Are you leaning toward it after a visit?

Friday, January 16 2009 at 07:00 PM

Happy Birthday!! Seems like I came across ur page at the perfect time to congratulate u. :) I wish u luck on the pepperdine waitlist and on loyola (which is where i'll be... unless i get into ucla)!

Pacific/Santa Clara
Wednesday, October 01 2008 at 08:00 PM

What about Pacific's Admit Day turned you off about it? I attended the same day you did and found the whole experience rather enjoyable. The mock class was lively, the Dean was inviting, and the student body looked pretty chill. I didn't attend SCU's ASD so I can't comment on it.

SC
Sunday, June 29 2008 at 08:00 PM

They are taking forever. At this point, I'm not sure there's any way I'd be able to go without a huge scholarship offer anyway. I jump back and forth between law schools several times a day. I had been really high on Davis for a few weeks, but I visited Arizona last week and now it's my top choice. I think at this point, everything is dependent on my trip to Las Vegas next week. Although it's not my ideal law school, I think it would be tough for me to pass up full tuition if I decide I like the school. If I don't though, I'll have to decide between Arizona (which I currently like better than Davis) or Davis which is closer to home. Looks like you're starting to get to a decision. Hopefully Pepperdine pulls through for you!

Wednesday, August 27 2008 at 08:00 PM

Yeah I have been talking with the schools I am waitlisted at, and I think I will get off probably 2 or 3 of them, but most likely it will be May or June. This Cycle is just really weird so far, so schools are tending to waitlist a lot more then usual. Goodluck with Pepperdine :) What part of CA are you from?

Wednesday, August 27 2008 at 08:00 PM

gotta love Orange county :) and Living in Malibu would be fun as well. Im really hoping for Minnesota, which just seems so cold lol. a few of the admissions deans I have talked to have basically said its a tough cycle for anyone to gage, so there most likely will be a lot of movement after the deposit deadline.

Thanks
Sunday, June 29 2008 at 08:00 PM

I was happy to get a WL from another T-20 school. I had pretty much already made up my mind that it would be too expensive to attend anyway. I'm definitely leaning towards Arizona at this point, but that is certainly subject to change. I'm going to UNLV on Thursday to see if I like the school. Either way, I'll have a decision made in about 3 weeks. You've had somewhat of a rough cycle, but I'm hoping it will end well for you. I think you still have a good shot at Pepperdine and some of your other schools as well. Is Pepperdine an automatic at this point that if you get in you'll go?

Re: Thanks
Sunday, June 29 2008 at 08:00 PM

I'm actually flying there and back in the same day (it's only a 1 hour flight, so not too bad). I've lived in Vegas for a few months, so I already know what the city is about. I just want to get a feel for the law school at this point. Hopefully Pepperdine will pull through for you. It sounds like it's everything you want in a law school and would be a really good fit. Santa Clara wouldn't be a bad fallback option, but it would still be nice to get into your choice school. Thanks for the well wishes. I'm looking forward to making a decision (even though it's driving me crazy right now).

legal scholars day
Sunday, July 27 2008 at 08:00 PM

i didn't go to Legal Scholars Day yet... what did you think of it? I'm considering going for the last one, I only live like a 6-7 hours drive away from Sac. The first two were badly timed with my school stuff, so I couldn't go. I got a WL at W&M, so that's kinda good, I guess. I'd definitely take that over McG. but Loyola said no, so I won't have to worry about Loyola v. McG hahaha

Sunday, January 11 2009 at 07:00 PM

thanks. tulane is actually one of my top choices right now (apart from Hastings and other dream schools), but worried about moving so far from home. I hope you get into Pepperdine, they do have a lovely campus. What did you like most about pepperdine on your visit?

Wednesday, August 27 2008 at 08:00 PM

What is your thoughts on UCI, being a fellow orange county res?

pepperdine is my choice
Saturday, January 10 2009 at 07:00 PM

Not expensive to live, not a better looking campus in the country, perfect climate, cheaper tuition than almost any other private school in Cali, lots of money flowing into student pockets, famous dean in Dean Ken Star, top ranked arbitration program in the country, school has climbed more than any other in the country in the last 3 years, oh, and have you visited the place? Honestly, if I had the numbers to get me into UCLA or USC, I'd probably choose Pepperdine with a $120,000 scholarship any day. People that overly rely on their LSAT to make their lives perfect by getting them into a top ranked schools are some of the biggest dumbfucks I've met. Put me in a courtroom doing securities litigation with some chump who got a 179 on the LSAT and went to UCLA and enjoy the show. I mean is 150K per year after 3 years not enough salary for these rankings hookers? I don't need more money than that to be happy. Point, if you are a dumbshit people can tell when they meet you, vice versa, and the LSAT doesn't tell you much. Peace. Oh yeah, and if you leave California just to chase the rankings you are a fucking punk little kid in my opinion. Cali is the bomb and Pepperdine proves it.

Pepperdine
Friday, December 19 2008 at 07:00 PM

Thank you and congrats on all your acceptances! I am VERY disappointed by the Pepperdine waitlist--I see that we are the only 2 160 scorers that have been waitlisted thus far :(. However, Im not as disappointed as I would be if I were waitlisted at Loyola. Loyola is my top choice and their admin office is making me extremely antsy these days. My app is still pending! Its so frustrating! Is Pepperdine your no. 1 choice? If so, I wish you the best of luck. Hope you get in!

Pepperdine
Thursday, August 10 2006 at 08:00 PM

Somehow ran across your profile. Good luck on your cycle. I'm probably withdrawing from Pepperdine in the next couple of days. Hope that you get my seat!

If we both end up @ Pepperdine...
Saturday, January 10 2009 at 07:00 PM

I'm going to get inside of your pants. :) It will be a challenge to find you. By the way, Santa Clara looks pretty bomb shit too. That would be my choice if needby.

Tuesday, January 20 2009 at 07:00 PM

Thanks for the congrats! And same to you. I've been going back and forth between Loyola and Brooklyn, but I'm leaning towards Brooklyn. I've heard good things about BLS and New York is an amazing city. If you have any insight into either of those schools that might help my decision, please let me know! Best of luck.

Thursday, November 27 2008 at 07:00 PM

'Grats on Santa Clara! I am still waiting on my top two choices, so anything can happen. As of today, I am still undecided, and studying for my retake! You will be very happy at SCU... withdrawing was hard for me, since my parents live three miles from campus. Best luck!

Thursday, September 11 2008 at 08:00 PM

Thanks! I honestly have no idea. Chapman is up there because of the scholarship and location. UConn is just because of the rankings. I'm holding out to hear from UNC. What about you?

Thursday, October 16 2008 at 08:00 PM

Hey. UConn vs. SU for where I'm in at. Would take Hastings over either if I get in off the WL. Not sure about Cardozo. Probably not Pepperdine because logistically it's too much. Still don't know about Davis and Fordham since they've had issues during this cycle (its been 3 months at each now without a word). I'm sure I'm out at Irvine and dont really care about the others I haven't heard from.

Miami
Wednesday, August 27 2008 at 08:00 PM

Hi Fred, Last night I got an e-mail from Miami saying something about getting onto the UMiami account. (they gave a username). I went on there, followed the steps and it sayed... Congratulations... you were accepted yada yada yada. ;) I'm sure the hard letter will come in a few days, as I'm across the country from them. Best of Luck.

Sunday, July 27 2008 at 08:00 PM

Sorry to hear about Pepperdine... but I think you will still enjoy your time at SCU very much! If you're really dead set on Pepperdine, you can always try to transfer out if you want. What I'm thinking of doing is probably just go through with Pacific and prepare for going there in the fall. If W&M decides to positively intervene later, then I'll figure it out then, but I will most likely just take the loss of deposit and whatever else and go with W&M. Although I hear that W&M's waitlists have historically been large, and if you look in the LSN W&M graph, there are more people on WL than accepted, which is ridiculous on their part. Well, looks like both of our cycles are pretty much ending, except that we're in the fortunate (or is that unfortunate?) position of getting waitlisted in our top choices, which makes for MORE waiting (which I know you hate ;). But really, at the end of the day, we're both still going to top-notch law schools that we're happy with. Thanks for your comments, they were always positive, something I sometimes forgot to be during this cycle. I really do appreciate it! :D (a part of me is a little disappointed you're not going to pacific but go SCU! :)

Thursday, November 27 2008 at 07:00 PM

I wish I knew, LLL, I wish I knew. Pepperdine is gorgeous, though! I hope you get off the waitlist! <3

Sunday, June 29 2008 at 08:00 PM

Thanks! It's very exciting to know for sure where I'm headed. Now it seems like there's an even bigger list of things to do before I go. Sorry to hear about the huge ASD at Pepperdine. They've got to have some open slots eventually though. Don't get discouraged!

My update

Check your PM for ramblings. :)

loyola!!
Friday, January 16 2009 at 07:00 PM

u definitely know my opinion... loyola all the way! :D but yea, it does suck that ur decision is currently based upon a lot of unknowns, like with the pepperdine waitlist and the loyola decision. i'm also sad to read above that getting off the pepperdine waitlist might be hard! it's okay... perseverance conquers all things so have hope! ...but maybe an acceptance from loyola might change everything :D

At least outwardly...
Thursday, September 11 2008 at 08:00 PM

It appears the cycle treated you very well considering the application avalanche. Out of your list of admits, Santa Clara and Loyola are wonderful institutions. I went to a very similar school (same conference as both) for undergraduate and the community is unbeatable. Santa Clara superior in IP, Loyola the rest. I am rather surprised at your zeal for Pepperdine tho...considering your gregarious online personality. Pepperdine is rather "rigid" in a number of ways- but it is Malbu...so what do I know anyways. You're in a great situation...both options are top-notch. Cheers!

Wednesday, December 10 2008 at 07:00 PM

yes, it has been a crazy cycle. i still cant believe that after all that work i got waitlisted at the majority of schools! apparently its not a great time to be applying to grad schools.. unless i hear back from one of the waitlisted schools i will be attending u of miami in the fall. pepperdine was actually my dream schools, so it was prettty devastating getting waitlisted there. i see that youre from cali so youre probably pretty familiar with those west coast schools. id love to hear how pepperdine is way overrrated and that im not missing out... :-) whats santa clara like?

Wednesday, August 27 2008 at 08:00 PM

so have you settled on Santa Clara? This has been such a weird long cycle, its crazy thats its almost over.

Pepperdine WL
Tuesday, October 07 2008 at 08:00 PM

Let's start a support group for Pepperdine Waitlisters.

Arizona
Tuesday, October 07 2008 at 08:00 PM

Yes, Arizona is the best option I've got. I am excited, but the thought of living in Malibu (and getting to surf everyday) can easily make up 10 rankings, or whatever it is between Arizona and Pepperdine. I have withdrawn from everywhere else, hopefully that helped someone somewhere. I am holding out hope for now as well.

Wednesday, August 27 2008 at 08:00 PM

Im currently still waiting on USD financial aid info, which is supposed to get here either hte end of the week or early next week. So with the schools Im in, I will prbly deposit there unless i got off one of these WL. USD jumped up pretty good in the rankings which is nice. Im wondering if UMN UIUC and UIB all moving up will make it harder to get in off the WL though. Crazy that UOP is not even in the top 100 now

waitlist buddies
Tuesday, October 28 2008 at 08:00 PM

hey hey, looks like we're going to be paddling the same boat together. but me for loyola and you for pepp. what did you include in your letter to them other than "i really like pepperdine because..." did you send any addl materials along with it?

loyola
Friday, April 10 2009 at 08:00 PM

i saw that you applied to loyola around the time that i did, and my application is also still pending. as of last friday, they said it was at the end of review. i hate pestering them, and was wondering if you had been in touch and if they mentioned when they might have decisions out? i have to deposit by next friday -- and send it out by at least wednesday -- so time is running out and i would go to loyola in a heartbeat if they accepted me!

USD stuff
Thursday, October 16 2008 at 08:00 PM

What's up. Word on the net is that USD is having computer issues but that a mass of mail was sent this week. So there likely will be something on the front for you in a couple days. As for me, I decided to shoot them a deposit. Between it jumping Loyola in rankings and the quality of life people talk about I can't turn it down for the other places (who all either dropped or I was never that interested). We'll see how the Hastings/Cardozo/Pepperdine wait bops play out. Still no word from Davis or Fordham but honestly I can't be bothered to care anymore.

Tuesday, October 28 2008 at 08:00 PM

thanks for all the info on what you're doing to try to get off pepperdine's waitlist. it was helpful. i shall follow suit and maybe try to make a friend in the admissions office the way you have. i have my fingers crossed for the both of us!

loyola
Friday, April 10 2009 at 08:00 PM

thanks for the advice -- i kind of figured that at this point, it would be very unlikely to get accepted, and the most i could hope for would to be waitlisted. at this point i'm trying to stay positive. i am hoping that they wouldn't string me along if i truly am holding out for them just to be waitlisted or rejected. but, come to think of it, that is exactly what rutgers did to me! i will be depositing at seton hall on wednesday, unless i get accepted by loyola before then.

Waitlist
Tuesday, October 07 2008 at 08:00 PM

I am going to hold out for Pepperdine and San Diego on the waitlist. I have withdrawn from the others, I hate numbers.

loyola
Friday, April 10 2009 at 08:00 PM

no good news for me from loyola -- i hope you do better! they gave it to me over the phone as i am in a rush to deposit at seton hall, so if you're really curious, i imagine you could do the same.

Friday, April 10 2009 at 08:00 PM

good luck with pepperdine! i regret not sending in my application there -- it would have been one more egg in my california basket, and is in a much nicer part of town! i'm hoping for the best with southwestern (and i guess loyola if they did indeed waitlist me). but moving out to california at the last minute may be a little difficult.

Please sir, might I have more porridge?
Wednesday, October 01 2008 at 08:00 PM

Throw me 2 more cents, I could honestly stand to hear more ideas. :)

Santa Clara
Sunday, August 31 2008 at 08:00 PM

LoveLaughLive! I'm set on SCU; although, if I'm accepted off the waitlist at Pepperdine I'd attend because it's always been my 1st choice. That said, I'm very enthusiastic about SCU. Matter of fact, I was also at the admitted student/alumni reception in LA and I believe we spoke!

Friday, January 16 2009 at 07:00 PM

ooo, i'm so sorry to hear that! But I'm sure u weren't terribly sad by it, since u already love SCU and have the possibility of attending Pepperdine or even USD! I really hope that one of the waitlists pull through for u! Law school is approaching very quickly. I'm so excited! :)

Wednesday, February 18 2009 at 07:00 PM

I'm still having a tough time deciding, as I really like different things about GMU and Pepperdine, and I would be happy in NoVa/DC or LA. I, like you and so many others, am on a handful of waitlists, so this could all change drastically. If I don't end up at Pepperdine, I hope you get my spot! Food for thought, if you really like San Diego though, USD has a very strong hold on that legal market and place almost as well as USC/UCLA grads in San Diego.

Wednesday, January 28 2009 at 07:00 PM

Hi! Looks like you have good info about pepperdine. When I visited, the woman at the admissions office told me they didn't go to the waitlist last year, but took 25 people off the waitlist the year before. I've noticed about 30 or so people withdrawing their acceptances this past month from pepperdine so I was wondering if you think this will make a dent in their incoming class and hopefully meaning they'll go to the waitlist? I know they already account for a certain amount of withdrawals, but let me know your thoughts on this if you can. And good luck w/ all your schools! I'm sure it'll work out for you!

usd
Sunday, May 03 2009 at 08:00 PM

Congrats on the decision rendered from USD, I'm SURE it's good news. Did you opt for FT, PT or both?

Tuesday, March 11 2008 at 08:00 PM

Good luck with your waitlists...i hope you get into one of your top choices... Pepperdine remains one of my top choices because it is practically on the beach...But both USD and Pepperdine are super close to the beach so I guess it comes down to whether you want to be in SD or Malibu...

It's official
Wednesday, February 18 2009 at 07:00 PM

Thanks again! I did officially decide, so I will be withdrawing from Pepperdine on Monday. Maybe you'll get my seat or $$, or both! Best of luck!

USD
Wednesday, August 27 2008 at 08:00 PM

Congrats on USD :) Im still undecided if I am going to attend, But im really glad you got in :) hopefully pepperdine shows some love too, but USD seems like a great school

Congrats!
Wednesday, October 01 2008 at 08:00 PM

USD is a great school, and it's great to know that you love it as much as I do. Needless to say, that's the same reason why I'm strongly considering USD over Davis. The whole UCLA WL situation definitely puts me in an odd situation. Assuming I don't get rejected from the UCLA WL before USD's 2nd deposit deadline on July 1st, I'll probably pick USD and ride the UCLA WL for good news. If not, I'm leaning toward Davis slightly more.

Wednesday, May 07 2008 at 08:00 PM

Hey congrats on getting in at USD. I'm really excited about the fall, especially since I know i'll have a fellow conservative to back me up. p.s. i think we are friends on facebook

Congrats!
Sunday, June 29 2008 at 08:00 PM

On San Diego! Looks like you'll be headed to one of your top choices.

USD vs. Pepperdine WL
Wednesday, October 01 2008 at 08:00 PM

If you get off Pepperdine, go with it. It's your first love, can't go wrong with that. :)

USD
Sunday, May 03 2009 at 08:00 PM

Congrats on USD, I told you it was good news! Thanks for the advice, I've already sent an LOCI and 2 additional LOR's. I'm also taking the LSAT again in June, but hopefully I'll hear before then.

Wednesday, January 28 2009 at 07:00 PM

Congrats on USD! Thanks for the good info. Good luck w/ your choice!

thanks so much for the info
Tuesday, October 28 2008 at 08:00 PM

and congrats on SD!!! have you ever sent a LOCI via email and if so, who did you send it to? i just went on a campus tour at lls and don't know if sending an actual letter telling them how much i liked the campus is too formal or maybe it's more direct if i email a letter? your thoughts?

Good news for you!
Wednesday, February 18 2009 at 07:00 PM

Congrats on SD! I also wanted to let you know that I officially withdrew from Pepperdine today, so hopefully my spot and money are yours! Sorry it took so long to withdraw, but I wanted to make sure I made the right decision. Best of luck to you!!! Keep me posted

Props on USD
Thursday, September 11 2008 at 08:00 PM

I think the USD is going to suit you a hell of a lot better than Pepperdine. I went to a very similar school for undergrad (in the WCC league)- they have inclusive/open communities, beautiful campuses and are situated in the nicest places in CA. That is especially the case with San Diego. If you havent been there, their sports arena is unreal despite having a rather unfortunate name (The Jenny-Craig Pavilion). Academic wise, San Diego is comparable with Pepperdine. You will have a good shot to finish in the very top tier of your class. Employment stats look good as well. Enjoy.
