Should probably point out that, while I was a History major I was also doing a pre-med course load at UG, and my science grades severely dragged down my GPA. My major GPA was a bit over 3.5, and I wrote an addendum to this effect that may have helped me out.

Additional info & updates

8/13 - Just finished orientation at UCLA. Final tally for the cycle - 7 Accepts; 4 Rejects. Have to admit I'm pretty pleased with how it turned out, especially considering my poor GPA. I think being a few years removed from UG and having some real world experience under my belt really helped with downplaying those grades. Don't think I'll be on the site much from here on, but if you have questions please feel free to PM me. Congrats to everyone finishing out their cycles, and to everyone just gearing up to apply: Good luck!

7/28 - After 2 months of suggestive WL updates, 'Accepted' at Georgetown via strongly suggestive email. No money and won't be attending, but I'm happy to say I cracked the T14. 7/4/4

6/23 - Formally withdrew from Vandy.

6/6 - Deposited at UCLA and withdrew from WUSTL and GWU. Figure I'll ride out the rest of these WLs just to see what happens, but short some serious scholarship money I don't think I'd jump for any but NYU or Michigan--longshots to say the least. Looking forward to getting back to SoCal, and to all the other Bruin 1Ls see you in August!

6/3 - Accepted at UCLA off the WL after a phone interview with Dean Schwartz. Feel like I've gone from WL Hell to WL Musical Chairs: where will I be when the music stops in August? (And how much deposit money can I afford to blow in the meantime?) 6/4/5

6/1 - Officially added to the summer WL at Cornell (from Reserve).

5/25 - FedEx box arrived following a missed call from a TN number: accepted off the Vandy WL with $5K/yr. Pretty excited, but torn over the money situation. And only 2 days to decide...5/4/6

5/12 - Withdrew from W&M, Pepperdine and Cardozo. Currently have deposits at WUSTL and GWU, which I'll have to make a decision on by the end of the month if there's no WL movement before then. Not a fun place to be.

5/3 - Rejected at USC via emailed letter (requested). This is kind of a shock, really; I figured I was at least a WL there. Cycle's pretty much over at this point, though I'm planning to ride out some of these WLs until at least the end of June. I feel pretty good about WUSTL, especially considering the financial situation. Just wish they had an exchange w/ a Japanese university...4/4/8

4/29 - Got a call from Cardozo asking about other offers I'd received, followed by an email offering me admission with $25K/yr dependent on maintaining a 2.95 GPA. 4/3/8

4/21 - WL at NYU, which is a surprise (I've been UR since 1/6) and better news than I was expecting. 3/3/9

4/6 - Informed by Cardozo that they wish to review my file from the 'Hold' list and request LOCI.

4/5 - Rejected at Columbia. I had requested that they email me notification so I got the bad news quickly. 3/3/8

3/21 - Rejected at Duke via email. Pretty bummed about this one. I thought they might show a NC native some love. 3/2/8

3/18 - Informed by Cornell that they've placed my application on the 'Reserve' list. 2 days after it went UR. *sigh* 3/1/8

3/17 - Accepted at Pepperdine! Haven't seen one of these in a while and it's a breath of fresh air. 3/1/7

3/16 - WL at William and Mary. Uuuggghhhh.... 2/1/7

3/12 - Pepperdine status shows as 'Decision Rendered,' but who knows what that means. Did they decide to accept me in just over a week? Sent an email requesting decision via email due to the earthquake possibly disrupting mailings. We'll see if they bite.

3/2 - WL at UCLA and 'Hold' at Cardozo (seriously?). It's official: I'm in waitlist hell. 2/1/6

3/1 - WL at Georgetown. That is all. 2/1/4

2/26 - WL at Michigan. At least it's not a rejection. 2/1/3 to date.

2/18 - Rejected at Penn via email. It was a reach and I'm not too torn up about it, but still... Brings me to 2/1/2

2/16 - Well...got a last-minute fee waiver from Pepperdine, and with UCLA and USC looking iffy I decided it would be nice to at least have an option in LA if it comes to that. 16th app: in.

2/7 - Scholarship email from WUSTL: $28K/yr no stips. Not a bad offer! Admit packet from GWU has STILL not come, so no clue about scholly moneys there yet... I think everyone else is on vacation or something; no movement whatsoever.

1/26 - Waitlisted at UVA via email. Not a huge shock, but not especially good news for the rest of my T14 apps. Also, the letter from Vandy finally got here (after 13 days!), so it's official: 2/0/2 so far.

1/25 - In at GWU via email! Here's hoping they throw some money my way...

1/19 - First acceptance from WUSTL via email! Nice to get it in a timely, 21st century manner (I'm looking at you, Vandy). Judging from other people's statuses, it's looking like Vandy is a WL, which sucks. 1/0/1 so far...

1/14 - Vandy application status just showed up as 'Decision Mailed 1/12' Bet it takes a week to get here... -_-'

12/26 - Georgetown app submitted. OK, this is definitely it. 15 is a nice round number, though.

12/23 - Decided to go ahead and submit for GWU as well, but I think that's it.

12/22 - Second big batch of apps submitted. A little unsure on whether I'll submit for the last three. Might just stick with lucky 13 @.@

12/19 - First big batch of apps submitted. Wanted to get them in before I head home next week. Now the real fun begins...

My computer at work displayed it as Kana perfectly, my home computer was a different story! Kansai is in Osaka ne? Also just curious what your top school is and if your going to ride out the waitlists?

Good luck with all those wait lists! I'm sure you will have some good news from a few of them, since there are so many. The odds are in your favor my friend! :)

LOCI every two weeks, and an occasional email to Dean Scwartz requesting updates. Would have called but the time difference makes it tough to call the west coast.
