Extra Curricular Information

*COMPLETE DATE is the date I know the school received my files, not necessarily when they processed them. I sent all of my docs via FedEx, so they got them the next day. The office staff at all of the schools verbally acknowledged I was complete over the phone by the next day or so.

*DECISION DATE is the date I received the letters. I didn't care to know the exact date they decided. I was more concerned about when I'd receive the information.

Here are some of my soft factors:

* 2 years professional business experience (sales management).
* Some part-time work. Not that significant.
*Volunteer work, including relief trip to Quito, Ecuador
*Worked in youth camps throughout the U.S during a summer.
*Worked in leadership for two campus-based faith organizations. Both were volunteer outreach groups.
*Dean's List: 3 semesters

I'm not an URM. I'm of mixed heritage, but not that of any significant minority groups. I only listed "mixed" for the sake of full disclosure. I'm not sure it mattered, but wanted to be safe about it.

Additional info & updates

Though my GPA was a bit low, I was a Biology major and I scored in the top 92% for the Biology graduating class' exit exam.

Had a criminal juvenile incident that technically didn't have to be listed. It was a prank that I got in trouble for nearly a decade ago. I chose to disclose it to be safe, rather than sorry. The case was dismissed & I sent up the appropriate docs. We'll see if this plays any role in my acceptance.

* Okay, it tentatively looks like I've been accepted to FSU. The lady in the office told me to expect a call from the dean this afternoon (2/02). I'm not sure if that is a good thing, or if the dean just likes to hear people cry. In any case, we shall see. Seriously, I'm not expecting a call on a Friday afternoon.

* Got my call (02/06) from the dean's office, but not the dean personally. I have been admitted! I asked the caller to send me an e-mail, as well. Now I have it in writing. :) Formal letter is to follow. I'm making today the decision date in the system.

Oh yeah, I sent my app to Emory.

*Got FSU's acceptance letter. I'm feeeling very very pumped.

*Spoke to Stetson (2/15). Apparently they have everything and I'm complete, but they haven't processed it yet. They should make a decision in the next two weeks or so.

*Spoke to Miami (2/15). They have reviewed my application, made a decision, and mailed the letter. I still haven't seen it (2/20/07). I live in Florida. How long can it honestly take?

-Spoke to UF (2/20/07). The lady in the admissions office stated that they ahd made a decision, but couldn't tell me if it had been mailed. In a sort of sly voice she said, "Expect a decision soon." Waiting....

-Received an e-mail this afternoon from Stetson (2/21/07). They just wanted to let me know I'm complete and my app will be looked at ASAP. The lady in the office told me I was completed a few weeks ago. So, I'm a bit surprised they took this long to let me know.

*Came home from work to find a nice manilla envelope containing my UF acceptance letter. Looked below to find the U of Miami envelope. I just about cried when read the UF one. I got in at both of them. Then I got an ear-to-ear grin across my face that hasn't left yet. This is like a dream come true for me.

(2/22/07) There's still a whole lot of work to do between now and then, but tonight is a time for celebration. :)

You're fine

Your 166 is going to get you into all of your schools just fine. Just from my experience, UF and FSU seem to cater to their state and even if you were out of state, you would be in no problem.

Thank you for the suggestion of Stetson, however, I am holding out for Florida and FSU.

Good luck to you too!

I am not even remotely competitive at some of the schools to which I applied, but I figure if I'm not getting any rejections then I'm not aiming high enough. I think you should have no problem getting into all of your schools. You must want to stay in the south east? What's your first choice?

Nevermind

I see that Emory is your first. I'm really hoping I get in there too! I would be really happy with Emory. Have you thought about U of Georgia?

Thanks for your note. I was happy to get some acceptances back early. Helps to make the waiting bearable :) Good luck with the rest of this cycle.

You're in at Miami... in case you're worried.

Go Gators!

Congrats on UF! I'm so happy for you. It must feel great to get into your number one choice. Maybe they'll let me in and we can be classmates. Stetson took forever to make a decision, but now that you are into Florida I'm sure it matters a little less. :)

Oh Yess!!

So, probably Florida then? It will be hard to pass up that $7000 in-state tuition! There is a pretty good chance that I'll see you there too. I'm leaning heavily towards Florida at this point.

UF

I was really happy to get into UF. I'm a bout 90% sure I'm going to be back in Gainesville. I went to UF for undergrad and grad school so coming back to the 'ville is very tempting. Waiting on my UNC decision (I'm an Nc resident now). It's a long shot, but would stir up my decision. We'll see. Are you going to admitted students day at UF?
