Extra Curricular Information

Currently work for a medium-size personal injury law firm; a full-time position I have worked up to from an unpaid internship.

Below average first and second years of undergrad work (hence the low GPA), followed by four stellar, consecutive semesters on the Dean's List.

Community service work including: teaching inner-city children computer and writing skills, volunteering at a local food bank, installing computers in seniors' homes, and coordinating an "Adopt-A-Soldier" campaign to send holiday gifts to soldiers in Iraq.

Political Action: volunteer and paid positions within local and national campaigns including the John Kerry Presidential campaign and a local State Senate race.

Additional info & updates

4-13-06 Received a rejection letter from George Mason. Not really sure why they offered me a fee waiver; obviously my scores are not in their range. Anyway, its not a disappointment since I hadn't planned on applying there anyway.

4-22-06 Received a large, white envelope from Hofstra. Acceptance letter inside for a seat in the Fall 2006 entering class, and a note that tuition and financial aid information are on their way. Reply deadline is May 15th, so I'll wait and see what Penn State and Drexel have to say before I make a decision, but Hofstra looks nice. It feels good to have an acceptance.

4-29-06 Received a large, thin, white envelope from Dickinson today. Acceptance to their full-time 2006 class in State College, and word that scholarship and grant information will follow. Seems great, I'm a little upset I only have a few days to decide since their deadline for confirmation is May 8th, but I suppose that is what I get for applying late. I'm going to tour both Dickinson and Hofstra this week, and will be making a decision.... leaning towards Dickinson though since they are (1) close to home, (2) ranked higher, and (3) $8,000/year cheaper.

5-04-06 Mailed my seat deposit to Dickinson. That is where I will be going next fall :-)

Congrats on your acceptances! Were you given a campus assignement by PSU? Which campus are you going to visit this week? I gave Drexel a long look but decided that Dickinson is the better choice. Feel free to drop me a note if you end up at PSU Dickinson this fall. I will be commuting to the Carlilse campus. Regards,
