what type of experience in Criminal Justice?...I was a State LEO for 3 years out of college in NC

Elon is my first choice, so hopefully my LSAT will be good enough for them. I am wondering how the LE experience will weigh in on the admissions process. Not often you get cops going to the "Darkside" :)

How did the interview with Campbell go? Any word from Elon? I am getting ready to send my application to them.

Did you elect to write one of the optional Personal Statements?

Not good, it was a very low score I am sorry to say, but I am going to apply and hope that the work experience, and MS will help along with a good PS. I am going do two of the optional essays, one of them being why my standardized testing does not reflect how I will perform in LS. If that fails I guess I will retake the in either June or October.

Which one of the Schools you have applied to is your first choice? What PD did you work for? I was with NCALE for 3 years.

Would you take Charlotte or Florida Coastal if nothing else works out? I was always told if you got the opportunity to interview with Campbell that was a good sign. I might still apply with them. They might look at my LSAT and laugh my application alway the way to the trash can. :)

I hope man, but I am still thinking that the low LSAT is going to keep me out. Thanks for the vote of confidence though.

Congrats man. I guess Elon is out now. I hate to admit it, but the LSAT is everything in this process. I am praying for my soft factors to make an impact.

I decided to go ahead and send the app. to Campbell. How detailed did you make the resume for them? Mine was two pages in length, and I remember at the orientation that talked about putting in as much as possible. Just curious to see how another applicant approached this part of the app.

Yeah Campbell is great I am definitely jealous. However, I would like Elo over all of my other choices since I live in Greensboro. Just more convienent for me at this point in my life. I would also be able to go on as a reserve officer with Greensboro PD. Thanks for all of your words of encouragement. Hopefully some good news will come here in the near future.

I understand completely. I was a little jaded after working for ALE. We were pretty much treated like the Red headed step-children of State Law Enforcement. Plus, low pay, crappy hours and working aloe without back up sucked. I put in with the SBI and ATF, so if for some reason law schools don't come knocking on my door just yet, I will maybe do one of those two things until I can take the test either this year or next and get in the near future. What was starting pay for the PD where you worked. When I came on with ALE it was 27,000, and when I left after 3 years it was a little over 35. I have friends who make close to 50 with GPD who are on patrol and have the same amount of time on. So I said fuck it and decided to look for something better.

Where are you getting your MPA from?

MAde any final decisions as of where you are going yet? Or are you waiting on a decision from UNC?

I am getting my MS in Criminology from Indiana State. Their distance learning program allowed me to work and get my degree. Yeah I would have loved to go to USC. No way in hell now. I am thinking about taking the Test Masters review course if I am not offered acceptance this year. So far Charlotte has told me to take a walk. I am hoping that Elon and NCCU will give me a chance. If not then I will take the test in Oct. I am fixing to get on with Greensboro Police as a back up plan, and was going to be a reserve officer regardless with them if I got in to Law School. And I am flying to Tampa in a few weeks to take the Treasury Enforcement Exam for ATF, so many doors left to open, however, Law School is my #1 choice.

Received the dreaded thin letter from Elon. I hate that this stupid test is the one deciding factor.

Yeah, its what I am hoping for. I guess if for some reason I wanted to transfer out of their and to Elon I could do that too since it is closer. If I could just get 10 more points on that test at least, or maybe 12 I think it would make a dramatic impact on my outcomes. Well still no word from Campbell, but I am not holding my breath there :). At worst something from NCCU for the PBAP, but I would definitely take it and work hard to hopefully earn full admission.

Hey :) Have you heard anything from NCCU yet?

We have the same LSAT and a lot fo the same schools...what is your top choice and have you visited any of the schools..especially the ones in NC?

That is very odd. It also makes the outcome for their decision towards me look grim. Well I am hoping for the best. Also, denied by Campbell. Who would have guessed it?! :)

I thought for sure you'd get accepted to NCCU. I wasn't conditionally accepted but was invited to the PBAP. Do you know anyone who has attended one of those programs?

Hey just out of curiousity - what do you think my chances of getting into Campbell are with a 152 LSAT & 3.8 gpa. I haven't heard back from them & it's my top realistic choice.

I see you were awarded some $$ at Elon. Did you write a letter or did they notify you? If so, was it with your acceptance, or after? Thanks.
