Additional info & updates

2/15/06-
Received a large white envelope from UMinn saying I was in. Whoo-hoo!

3/1/06-
Received an email from Boalt saying that my app. has been selected for futher review and final decisions would become available after March 22.

3/3/06-
Received an email from UMich saying that I was on the waitlist. Can't really tell how far down the waitlist....

3/17/06
Received an email from Iowa saying that I was in, followed by several envelopes in the mail. Also was told I am on the scholarship waitlist and would find out about scholarship availibility around April 15th.

3/23/06
Rejection letter from Chicago came in the mail.

3/29/06
On the advice of their own admissions office, I called Berkeley to get my ding over the phone. If anyone could explain to me why they know that they are going to reject people, yet are waiting to send out rejection letters that would be awesome. I mean, I realize that their admissions office is busy, but when deposit deadlines for other schools are coming up, you should do your best to let people know as soon as you've decided (without them having to call you!)

i rang boalt this morning and asked about the March 22 notification date and they said "...those decisions are not available yet and you should expect to hear in the next week or two via either email or USPS..." looks like the waiting continues...are you originally from iowa? i have family back there and just visited this summer...

Yea....I would rather go to Michigan than Iowa or Minn., so I'm on the waitlist. I also sent them a letter saying that I just won a collegiate scholar award and was selected to speak at my graduation. (They said something about letting them know about new awards) I also included the "Why Michigan" essay that I hadn't done before. I don't know how much it will help, but I figure it can't hurt.
