Additional info & updates

I like burgers and Freeman.

12/21/07 - Applied to Baylor, SMU, Houston, OU, Tech, South Texas, and Wesleyan. Let the fun begin.

01/17/08 - In at Baylor via email. The thrill of victory is amazing.

01/31/08 - Accepted at OU via snail mail packet. A very nice hand-written statement was at the end of the letter. Maybe Sooners aren't so bad after all?

01/31/08 - Also in at South Texas via snail mail. Details are fuzzy as it went to my parent's address and not mine.

02/06/08 - Received 8k per year scholarship from OU via snail mail.

02/21/08 - Received 1/2 tuition scholarship at Baylor via snail mail. Pretty excited - I thought that they sent scholarships out with acceptances and that I was eff'ed. Apparently not.

03/10/08 - Accepted at Houston via email. 3 more to go!

03/12/08 - Its been a busy week. Two snail mail packets from Tech and Wesleyan with scholarships at both. Now only one to go.

05/01/08 - Waitlisted at SMU.

Baylor vs. STCL
Monday, June 18 2007 at 08:00 PM

Hey there. My decision was determined ultimately by my Baylor Visitation Day. 1. Lack of diversity. I encountered maybe three minorities the entire day. 2. I want to practice in Houston, and Baylor's placement here didn't seem up to snuff from my research. 3. Regimented curriculum. I didn't like the fact that there were 2L AND 3L required courses. 4. Quarter system. Students reported feeling as if they were constantly studying for finals. I didn't want that added pressure. 5. I was admitted to the Summer Quarter and would have to begin in May. I wasn't ready to commit. 6. Waco. Houston's my home, and I knew I'd be much happier here. 7. Practical approach. Both schools have a reputation for this, and I knew that, in spite of STCL's ranking, it's well respected in Houston and places well here so long as you can stay top half. I just need to stay focused. Hope this helps! Are you in for the Fall Quarter?

Leaning toward Baylor for right now. Since I was admitted for Spring though, I don't have to put down a deposit until June. I'm keeping my options open until then. I'll keep you posted =)
