Additional info & updates

*All scholarships are three year totals.
* Numbers beside schools refer to latest ranking in USNWR.

12/31 Got my first acceptance. Tennessee called me to let me know they would be mailing my acceptance letter. No information on scholarships. I had just gotten my Dec. LSAT score the day before so it has been a good couple of days.

1/15 Accepted via status checker to UGA. I'm pretty excited about this one.

1/16 I got a large acceptance packet via snail mail from Ole Miss today. No mention of scholarships yet. Hopefully, I'll hear back from them on that soon.

1/17 Email from Kentucky today telling me I was accepted. They said they would be sending me a packet after the long weekend with general scholarship information as well as other pertinent information. I would like to get some more concrete information from these schools about scholarships.

1/18 Received acceptance letter from LSU via snail mail.

1/22 Phone call from Alabama today telling me I was accepted and offered $14,000 scholarship per year renewable for all three years. Finally, some scholarship information. I am pretty pumped. Also, received acceptance from Samford via snail mail. I am being considered for a scholarship. I just have to go to Birmingham for an interview.

2/2 Letter from Tennessee offering $13,000 per year for all three years.

2/6 Acceptance packet from William and Mary. $10,000 scholarship per year for all three years as long as I maintain a "C" average.

2/13 Letter from LSU offering Chancellor Merit Scholarship which covers full tuition. Roughly $23,000 a year since I'm a non-resident. Scholarship is renewable each year as long as I'm in the top 25%.

2/23 Lots of news today. Email from Georgia offering one semester of resident tuition for my first year. Letter from Kentucky offering resident tuition for all three years, provided I maintain a 2.9. Acceptance packet from Emory, detailing financial aid process and upcoming admitted students' day. Email from Virginia. Waitlisted. Not at all surprised. I'll probably withdraw in the next couple of days.

2/27 Letter from Vandy today. Waitlisted. Again, not surprised. I haven't decided yet whether or not I will remain on the waitlist.

3/5 Acceptance packet from Florida today. My cycle is almost over, and I have pretty much made my decision. Going to wait to hear from W & L and to see if Emory gives me any scholarship money before sending in my seat deposit though.

3/7 My cycle is now complete.Got a letter from W&L today. Waitlisted. I have to say that I am surprised by this one. After getting accepted into Emory, I assumed I would also get into W&L. Oh well. I really had no plans on attending W&L anyway. My cycle went really well. 10 acceptances, 0 rejections, and 3 waitlists. I have to be honest. It feels pretty good to not get rejected from anywhere. I'm not sure if my cycle was that good, or if I didn't apply to enough reaches. Probably the latter. Now that I have heard back from everyone, I've practically made my final decision. However, I'm still weighing my options since I haven't gotten any scholarship information from Emory or Florida. Not really expecting anything from Emory, but you never know. I will make my final decision in the next week or so. On Monday, I'm going to begin withdrawing from schools I know I won't be attending.

3/19 I withdrew from several schools today, and I will continue to withdraw from other schools as April 1 approaches. Barring any sort of change, I have made my decision.

3/24 I emailed all of the remaining schools to withdraw my applications tonight. I will be attending the University of Alabama next fall. I am very excited about my decision. Although I was admitted to a few higher ranked and similarly ranked schools, I ultimately chose Alabama because I want to practice in Alabama, and I feel that the University of Alabama was the best choice for me. Also, I was thoroughly impressed when I attended the Admitted Students Day. Truthfully, I knew that day that I would be attending the University of Alabama. I am so glad this entire process is complete. Now I can relax and try to make some money before next fall.

I'm leaning towards Tennessee. I wasn't until I visited the campus with the prelaw society at my university and I absolutely fell in love. The faculty and students were all warm and friendly and the facilities were beautiful. It also has a great clinical program. What about you?

All are great schools, and I hear you about Vandy being a stretch. Are you going to the accepted students day in March at Tennessee? Best of luck with everything!

I got a card from them a few weeks after my acceptance with info about it. They also have the dates (March 27 and May 22) on their website.
