Interview at Northwestern in Early October with a 2L

10/1/2008
Finished my first round of applications to all of the schools I will consider applying to. Considering sending out a second round later, we'll see.

10/21
Accepted at Duke via e-mail. Inviting me to apply for scholarship money.

11/7
Sent out Applications to USC, UVA, and Georgetown. Probably all of the applications I will send out. I might decide to do Boston University and UT later, but highly doubtful. I wanted to send out as many as I can in case I get some good scholarship offers. Right now, its me playing the waiting game for a while.

12/8
Called Georgetown today because I hadn't received any information about whether or not I had gone complete. They said that they sent out my decision letter today!! I'm 99% sure that means I'm unofficially accepted. Also, received a packet to apply for a Rothmann Scholarship from USC on Saturday. I'm also taking that information as an unofficial acceptance. Not a bad last 2 days, but I would love the hear from NU and UMich soon.

12/11
Received creme letter from Georgetown offering me admission. Nice little handwritten note on the bottom saying they enjoyed my P.S. I'm sure everyone gets one of these, but still nice to recieve.

12/12
Second admission date in a row!! Notre Dame acceptance with $20k per year scholarship redeemable upun good academic standing. Very excited about that!! ND is only school I'd consider attending outside of T17.

12/18
Very Excited! Checked the Michigan status checker website and was given a 'decision'. Logged on to the admitted students website successfully!! In at U of M! U of M is my top choice along with NU, so I'm very excited about that.

Also, received an E-mail from Dean Tom @ Berkeley saying that I have been put on hold. I'm taking this as a deferral. Sounds like a 'We can't decide on you right now, but will take another look at you in a month or so'

12/19
Received big blue package from UofM with a handwritten note at the bottom as well as a large packet from ND with some general information as well as a really cool ND law window sticker!

1/8/2009
After not hearing any admission status updates for almost a month, I received a call from University of Chicago around noon telling me that I had been admitted!! This makes my day, but I now realize I'm going to have a few very tough choices to make in the next few months.

1/13
Bad news from Northwestern. Put on Hold and won't be reviewed until next April. I really loved the campus, but my lack of tangible work experience really hurt me at one of my top choices. The only thing that makes me less upset is knowing that I have U Chicago to fall back on if I really want to stay in the Chicago Area.

1/14
In at UCLA via call from Rob Schwartz

2/19
Ding at Berkely. First Red Dot on my map.

4/1
It's been a while since I updated. It seems my cycle is finally coming to an end. I'm currently planned on enrolling at UChicago for class of 2012, but that's pending a visit to LA to see UCLA/USC, word from NU, and (very) slight chance of NYU/Columbia. I'm still pumped thinking about the call I received from Chi, and consider it an honor to be accepted there. I'll let everyone know how the rest of my cycle turns out, and am still crossing fingers for my 2 NY schools.

4/17
WL invite from NYU. Doubt I'll ride it out. Really fell in love with Chicago, and knowing that I can buy a house in Chicago for less than I can rent one for in NY is a big plus. Expecting a WL from Columbia as well, after being put on hold and invited to send in more materials (which I didn't do)

4/21
I've withdrawn from NYU and received a rejection letter from Columbia. I'm sure that if I had sent some 'hold' information, I would have received a WL invite. At this point in my cycle, I'm extremely happy with my choice. Pending 90K from Northwestern, I'll be starting at Chicago in September.

In regards to my WL invitations, I really had to ask myself if I wanted to really attend the school, or if I just wanted to get in to see if I could. Chicago was my #1 reach (behind Harvard, which I always knew was a pipe dream) before my cycle ever began, and after I got in in January, my cycle really came to an end. I never in a million years would have thought that I would have the opportunity to attend such an amazing school, and am truly blesses for the opportunity.

If anyone would like any information that I didn't share, I'm on Top-Law-Schools.com as Etwake, and feel free to send me a PM on there. Best of luck to everyone, and I hope my information helps you as much as this website helped me!!

4/25
Northwestern WL invite. My cycle is officially over. Sent in my letter to UCHI saying I would be heading there in the fall. I'm extremely happy with the way my cycle turned out, and best of luck to everyone!

5/11
I didn't send in my information to NU, and though I was withdrawn be default. I got my acceptance letter today!!! I am happy, but its going to take some $$ to get me away from UC. I did officially get into my top 3 choices (UofC, UofM, NU), and am still estatic about my cycle. Will update with scholarship amounts later.
