I'd love to go to VA. I know you'll get into NYU. I was waitlisted, and your numbers are higher than mine.

numbers
Sunday, July 17 2005 at 08:00 PM

I would just like to say that even though alot of people say that schools should look beyond the numbers, when it actually happens, they don't think its a good thing. But, I can't help but wonder if its only bad when it happens to a black woman, but when its someone else, then its okay. I might be in the bottom 10% of lsat numbers for Georgetown, but I know that the bottom 10% is not all black and latino people, so there are others who get in with lower scores as well. I put this page up for them, because although some may not realize it, lsn only represents a small minority of people who are participating in the law school admissions process. Good luck to all in law school.

Work the system

I envy you.

IGNORE THE HATE
Monday, May 16 2005 at 08:00 PM

I can't stand people who knock others because of that person's accomplishments. Girl, don't let anybody tell you that you didn't deserve to get into the schools that you did. I would be damned if I let ANYONE try to make me feel inferior. And I will not be apologetic for SUCCEEDING. There is something sytematic about minorities not being represented in the field of law. And it's about time we do something about it. And maybe I'll see you at one of those schools this fall.

Congrats

Lookin good so far hopefully some of those yellow lights will turn to greens! People venting their anger, dont mind em. Their ignorance should only motivate you.

separate but equal?
Sunday, July 17 2005 at 08:00 PM

Separate but equal did not relate to low lsat scores, it related to sub-par schools and facilities in "minority" communities. There is no way that the 10% of black people at any law school is contributing to a system in which white people are being relegated to sub-standard law schools/or any schools for that matter. The "majority" population at all of those schools is still intact. So, what are you talking about?

being cautious
Sunday, July 17 2005 at 08:00 PM

yeah. thanks for the information. i am worried about the racism. i am not used to the south. i'm from the midwest, which can be racist, but not in the same way. i hope i'm prepared. peace!

racism at UVa
Monday, July 18 2005 at 08:00 PM

I just wanted to let you know that I am an undergrad student at UVa and I know tons of the law students. The black students I know love Charlottesville and UVa, and they have not experienced this type of racism which people have been describing. I'm hopeful you will not experience any kind of racism or prejudice during your time in C=ville. Congrats on getting in!

Skeptical Understanding
Wednesday, September 07 2005 at 08:00 PM

It is a little disconcerting to see those numbers and those acceptances, but not entirely. You did go to an Ivy League institution and had a very respectable GPA at that school, which definitely counts for something as well. Congrats.

financial aid

Hey.... hope things are going well in Charlottesville. How was UVA for financial aid? Any need-based grants?
