3/10 - Walk-in visit to Kent is fruitless. App is still under review with no decision made.
3/13 - Large white envelope from depaul... accepted to the PT night division from the waitlist. Letter says you can transfer to FT after your 1st yr. and still graduate in 3. Sounds good to me. Still holding out hope for Kent though.
3/17 - Leaving for vacation tomorrow... I know it's disturbing, but I'm pumped that I'll have 2 weeks of graph updates to look at when I get back!
3/26 - Back from vacation and still no news from Kent. Financial aid award letter from DePaul is in, and looks really good overall. Expense estimates were refreshingly realistic... so much so that I could quit working and just attend school as if I was in a FT program. Hmmm... maybe a PT program won't be so bad after all, eh?
3/27 - Acceptances are creeping closer to my dot on the Chi-Kent graph, but unfortunately, so are the rejections. Let's hope they actually look at the addendum explaining my 8 point LSAT differential.
3/29 - Deferred at Chi-Kent. Much the same as DePaul, the letter asks me to respond if I'd like to be considered for both the PT and FT programs. I suppose I'll respond "both" as I'd prefer Kent over DePaul, regardless of PT or FT status.
4/3 - Sent in 1st DePaul deposit and Kent WL response today. Replied in the Kent response that I would like to be considered for either PT or FT, but included a short note expressing that I would MUCH prefer to be admitted to the full-time program. Hopefully Kent will get back to me before 6/15 so I don't have to throw away another $200
(New USNEWS rankings have Depaul @ 80, Loyola @ 70, Chi-Kent @ 60. Definitely takes some of the edge off of the Loyola ding)
4/20 - My new job is located 3 blocks from Chi-Kent. The desire to do a walk-in application status check every day is overwhelming. Trying to limit myself to every 2 weeks.
4/28 - Walk-in app status check at Kent is useless. App is still under review. Grrr...
5/12 - More of the same. Does anyone know when Kent's next deposit is due? Maybe I'll get some movement after that.
5/30 - Lady at the counter told me that my app is still in a deferred state, but that there has been some movement or something has changed, or whatever. Think I might have been getting BS'd a little. She hinted that I should hear something by the end of June. Next Kent deposit is due June 15th, same date as DePaul's. Who wants to bet that I'll pay DePaul's 2nd deposit on the 15th, and then get accepted to Kent on the 16th?
6/13 - Kent. Same. Again. Paid DePaul's 2nd deposit over the phone. Started negotiations with my employer to have my schedule knocked down to 30 hrs/wk during school. I suppose I'll mark depaul as "Attending" now.
sorry about Loyola. I don't know what they are thinking this year, they must be really really trying to raise their numbers. Good Luck with Chicago-Kent!!
