ann perry called me on 5/5 to ask how interested i was in attending chicago, so that she could determine whether or not my app should be sent to the admissions committee -- it sounds as if you'll definitely get that call before being admitted off the waitlist...i then got a call the following monday from her stating that i had been admitted. but, no, she gave no indication how many people were being reviewed again. i'm sure they're just filling slots as people turn them down. people admitted off the waitlist in may have to let them know by may 23 whether they plan to attend.
On the waitlist form it asks if you want to seek deferred admission to the fall of 2007 or 2008, and you have to write a short statement on what you would be doing . I am starting a masters program in the fall so I asked for admission in 2008, then sent me a letter saying my deferral request was approved. But it is basically like applying early decision, you have to sign a contract saying you won't apply to any other schools, so I am not sure I am going to accept, but it would be nice to not reapply anywhere!
